The little Bichon I'm looking after seems to have a problem with her vagina.

She is constantly 'at' it, and it looks swollen to me. She's had a season which finished some weeks ago - and there's no discharge that I can see comming from it.

I've booked her in to the vet tonight for a looks see - but does anyone have any ideas what may cause the irritation??

My bitch spend a lot of time cleaning herself after her season, and it takes a while to "go down" also. No other info here as she's my first bitch, but fingers crossed its nothing untowards x

Depends how long ago her season was, bitches do stay swollen for a little while but I would always be cautious with excessive licking after a season. You have done the right thing in getting the vet to have a look, hopefully it will be nothing. Just to panic you, she couldn't be in whelp could she ?

Morning,

A little update. She has an infection, hence all the licking and swelling - so is on antibiotics. Vet said it's a bit like a yeast infection, and that she may be prone after a season(??). Hopefully she'll be spayed soon....

And poor little mite had the indignity of having her anal glands done. Eugh!!!

Thanks all for your advice.:)
