Just passing through...
Can't believe we've had the wee thing for over two months now!
On the whole all it's grand ?
She's had a spat with the GSD and with one of the Rotties. A few scratches but no blood. She'd been getting a bit bossy, but is more respectful of all of them now. I have to say they've all been remarkably patient and gentle with her.
They'll play together in the field, which is lovely, and at times hysterically funny. The little thing has to bounce through the long grass ?? She'll be developing thighs to rival Linford Christie ?
On our regular walk she goes off lead up the track into the forest, comes to call (and her special-only-gets-them-on-walks treats), and now walks nicely on the lead (no more me being towed!).
We no longer pen her to eat as she just climbs out, or sort of hangs upside-down if we put the lid on, and she's fine, also eats more now she's closer to the others.
The GSD is learning to bounce a bit more gently and that's leading to better playtimes, and the wee one is showing her some respect.
It was a daily battle to keep her off the furniture and if i was out of the room it was all fair game. We've let her back on. There's only the occasional grumble at the others at which point she's straight back on the floor. I'm not yet letting her up to sit on me ? as it still seems to be a trigger point for all of them, but she can sit on D okay.
She's learnt the voice commands, both hers and the collective, and is learning hands signals. She's also become very protective of home. Has an amazing hackle line that goes down her spine.
Her coat is no longer quite so soft and pristine..., now it's a little coarser and is usually sporting a patch or two of mud, and her muscles are definitely showing some definition. Her energy levels are through the roof! Runs like a small exocet missile.
So, it's all a bit bonkers, and she'll push the rules to see if we still really mean it (really?!), but she's generally a pleasure to have around ???
