So took the trek to Little Downham today isnt a great route for us mum hates that bl**dy essex regiment way round about after round about!! And to top it off when we got to the petrol station at 5.30am (cant fill up night b4 as someone stole our diesel a few weeks ago) they werent taking cards just cheques, so drove up to Sainsbury - not open!! So back to BP and mum paid with the little cash we had and off we went!! So a bit behind schedule.

Managed to get there on time though and quickly walk the course, Spider warmed up lovely for my dressage much much better and reponsive, did a lovely test and got my first sub 30! had 29.5!!!

On to the SJing, was a nice course and up to height everyone was having number 3 down going towards the bright sun, Spider jumped great for another clear, 3 SJng clears in a row now (bit or a rarerity for me!!)

Onto the XC - she was just real spooky today and spooked at every fence we had to canter passed! LD is quite a spooky colourful course for babies and was much spookier then Borde Hill, well she went clear but had a few hesitations, and at one fence they gave us 20pens even though we didnt circle or stop in our tracks! But didnt mind as I took her slow anyway.

So annoying as could of ended up 3rd again but I spose at her age she is going to have spooky days, so was pleased overall to get her home as she over come alot of fences she had been previously scared off XC today.

And chuffed with her dressage and SJing, means when she is real confident XC she will always be in the placings! Just need to keep having nice confident runs! She should be a different horse next season.

Kinda glad I didnt have to ride Connor too as it was baking hot!

Great dressage and sjing, real shame about the xc tho.

Like you say, youll be a force to be reckoned with once Spiders a little less spooky

What fence did she stop at? is it any imparticular or is she just spooky at any kinda thing? my mare was like that, didnt really care about ditches/water but would spook at the most stupid things lol

Sounds like you have got the dressage and SJ cracked anyway, and are nearly there with the XC. She is only five isn't she. Hope all goes well at your PAVO qual, I guess all the pro's enter for them don't they.

We definitely had the worst of the weather today, heavy rain for at least 12 hours solid, and we got absulutely drenched XC schooling. Still - it will be good for the ground.

Thanks

Its fences on hedgerows on in big complexes so just being a baby!! It was a jump ditch jump fence I think I go the 20 at because it was right next to the hedge! she ran out a bit right then went forward and jumped! Annoying thing is it is not the fences and hasnt been for ages she loves jump ditch jump fences its just the surroundings.

An LD was the sort of course she spooks at so all good practice. And im hoping as it isnt the fences she will grow out of it a bit.

You had sun when we had rain last weekend!! We cold do with a bit more rain here for my next event it is always hard there.

Ground at LD today was lovely. Yes she is just 5 so has all the tiem in the world to get over spooking!!

There was a big field full of sheep we had to canter past too! And lots of spooky blue and pink intermediate jumps to canter past! Silly pony!

She just needs mileage by the sounds of it.

I think my mare (RLF has her now) has grown up a lot since I had her as a spooky 5 year old.

It is annoying, but its her first season, just give her time to take it all in and digest it.

Yes I agree, that is why I do think she needs more runs. She needs mileage. She has a rest this weekend off competing just hacking then hopefully she will have dijested today for Stratford! I think after this season and a break over the winter she will come out next season stealing all the rossies!!
grin.gif
I hope!

Yeah she needs runs, just watch the ground is all i will say to you. Its not worth it, i hate seeing my bootiful 11 year old crippled stuck in a field doing nothing

Onwards and upwards for the PAVO. You stand a good chance with that dressage and sjing so just need to keep her focused for the xc now.

Yes I agree, luckily every event I have been to this year has had great ground.

Just pray for some rain b4 Stratford, will then take it easy if teh ground is to hard, am doing Tweseldown - dont usually but it is only one that will garauntee good ground!!

Yes she does stand a good chance and she has schooled round the course but as we all know too well that doesnt mean anything with horses does it!! Its all big names in my class so far Antonia Hardwick, Piggy French, Sarah Bullen etc etc!!!!

Brilliant. What an exciting prospect for you!

Yes she is!! But once you get one rossette you start thinking hmmm!!
smirk.gif
But I should be pleased really I cant expect her to be that consitent at her age yet really
smile.gif

She wasnt too bothered by them, but did look!

Connor hated the sheep when he saw them at Stratford schooling so not sure what he would have made of them!! He just so needs to get out and see things, he is in deperate need of work, grass and mileage competing!!!! He has done about 3 BN's and XC schooled twice! Bless him!

Well done, sounds like you had a good day!

I was jump judging at fence 13 a bush that went to 14 a table, it seemed to be causing a few problems, and we had one horse and rider that parted company between fences.

Then the day just got worse!

But glad you had a good run
