I am an all weather rider (although i don't bother hacking out if its really raining cats and dogs if i can help it!!)
i normally wrap up in my great musto coat, full rambo waterproof fleece lined chaps, ice rider boots, thermals etc etc!! so apart from my hands i dont really feel the cold too much!!

My little niece (6yrs) is tiny and i can't find any good gear for her ?? [although hopefully will do at olympia next week]
She is desperate for some chaps like mine but i can't find any anywhere for kids!!

I dont want her to become a fair weather rider - and she has informed me that she will ride in all weathers and proved it a few weeks ago hacking out in the pouring rain with my coat on !! (i subsequently got a rotten cold!!!!)

Does anyone know where i can get good kids stuff?
a friend got her some fabulous winter muck boots from a cheap shop that i cant remember now!! at lakeside. they were £3 in sale and are amazing!!

Do your kids still go to the stables in terrible weather?? I have called off her riding once as i don't want her to get ill just for the sake of it

Sorry changing the subject!!

What about Ski wear? TKMaxx have some super kids ski wear and at great prices, ski pant would be warm. I know not horsey branded but nice and cosy..

My daughter goes to the yard whatever the weather and is quite happy - she has only moaned about riding over the last week or so when it has been frosty - she doesn't mind the rain one bit, it's the frost - she says her bones ache! (old before her time). She wears the ski stuff and it's really good

My daughter has been riding in all weathers from an early age, and had some made to measure little full length chaps made from a local saddler, then when she got to about 7 we managed to get her a pair of rambo full length chaps we have been a god send, plus kids rimfrost boots start from quite small sizes as we have found as long as her hands, legs and toes are warm shes happy.

thanks guys didnt think of ski wear (can you tell i dont ski)
my sister sends her to the yard with a million jumps but thats no good theres only so many you can get on at once lol!

oh savannah there is hope with chaps then! fabulous!

my daughter is out in all weathers.
loads of layers, harry hall waterproof trousers and jacket(are in the robinsons sale!!) and her woof wear long boots.
she stays cosy and doeant complain, although kids are active and keep themselves warm..

If you cant find coats from horsey shops as such, why not try places like Millets etc as they always seem to have a vast amount of kids' stuff and that way you can layer underneath keeping her warm etc

Robinsons have some harry hall coat and waterproof trouser sets in their sale atm. My daughter and son both have a set and they've been fabulous at keeping them warm and dry on the yard.

yep, daughter has to go out in all weathers, if she wants the minis (doesnt currently ride much as loan pony went back) then she has to muck them out whatever the weather after school!

I usually get her woolly tights for under her trousers which also helps toast her feet nicely, a good vest, polo neck jumper with general layers usually keeps them warm, good glove and hat, and waterproof jacket if raining, all available from normal horsey outlets?

Tabletop sales and ebay are your friend....!! (oh and friends with bigger kids that have outgrown their gear!!)

Waterproof Trousers are a must!!

my girl is not riding yet, but when we are doing the horses she only like's to pick a bit of poo out of the field, as she get's cold and runs off to the caravan, so next yr i will be getting her some warm waterproof gear, so she can ride rain or shine

when i was younger (6-7) i used to be at the stables in all kinds of weather and used to hack. i just wore normal layers with a bit thick jumper or fleece then a good jacket - ski type. On my legs i wore joddys and waterproof trousers that had some fill so they kept my legs really toasty. When i was hacking i used to have excersise sheets that went over my legs as well.

im 15 and ride no matter what the wheather my mum got me ski trousers from tkmx there amazing and keep me really warm i hate the wind but can cope with rain and love the frost!! it makes everything so pretty lol

oh and the good thing is that the ski trousers are water proof as well and can go over riding boots so u dont have to worry about getting her new chaps ect. hope that helps
