Has the mare even touched it yet ? ... I mean surely this would have been done straight after birth if they hadnt of interfered with toweling it down and making such a fuss ????
I was absolutely horrified. The mare wasn't given a chance to push at all. They literally shoved their hands up her and wrenched the foal out - bloody septics!
(Mr Chambon's words, not mine!).
Why didn't they let her just get on with it, she was doing fine until they interferred. This has made me SO CROSS
As for the forced snipping of the cord and then the oxygen mask thing..... I am bloody speechless. Disgusting sums it up.
Yes but aspirators have a small tank as well. Got to be honest & say that because I have easy access to both a small tank of oxygen & an aspirator I have kept one handy when foals due just in case, not needed to use either though.
At the stud we only interferred if the mare was in difficulties we would never ever man handle the foal as the best interaction is between mother and baby!
I am utterly horrified by what I am watching - no wonder the mare isn't interested, she had the foal ripped out of her, then stopped from interacting and is dealing with humans throughout
