Little schooling issue

Hello guys and gals :)

Anyone that can help me with a bit of a schooling issue would be in my good books forever :D

How do you stop a horse from jogging all the time? I mean it is constant.

Back,teeth,saddle all fine and it doesn't seem to be pain related the horse seems to be happy just wanting to move up a gear all the time. I have tried bringing her back to walk which leads to a tail swish but does walk only to jog again two seconds later. I have tried to push into trot which is fine for a min and then she wants to move up into canter.
I just cant think of a way to make her stop jogging and it is annoying me! She is fairly fit but not hunting fit fed VERY small amount of chaff and a calmer. It doesn't feel like she is going to bolt as I can change pace easy enough and she seems to be listerning to what I am asking its just this b***dy jogging :rolleyes:

as she will walk for a few seconds, just build on that giving lots of praise when she does walk. Its when they won't come back to walk at all that is really the hardest. I would bring her back to walk, praise then ask for trot praise, walk, etc don't let her jog at all if you can help it, just increase the amount of walk you ask her for slowly That is just what I think others may have other ideas but it did work for my horse
 
Give her a choice. Make it her decision to walk.

OK, So walk around arena, when she jogs, put her on a circle. This is the harder option as she has to work harder. Once she has walked (after aids for half halts e.t.c) her reward is to go large and pat her. As soon as she goes into jog again, back on your circle, once walking, pat and go large.

Horses take about 6-12 repetitions before getting it in their heads, so this may take a while. And keep repeating until the message has sunk in.

Horses like an easy life, so will choose the easy option. The easy option here is to walk whilst going large. Jogging on a circle is the harder option.

By giving her the choice, you reduce tension and stress. Never lose your temper, just get to love circles! A few days of this and your mare will soon be walking.

As well as general basic schooling and hard work I would suggest two things in additon those you have already tried. If he wants to jog then I would make it hard for him instead of just letting him jog how he wants make him work ask him to jog almost like a Piaffe, use the leg to keep the hind legs moving and lots of half halts to stop him moving forward to quickly. Getting him to jog with the hind legs engaged and the head up at the front he will so reliase it is hard work. Secondly I would do a give and retake of the reins when he starts jogging even combine that with asking towards the piaffe first then give and retake the reins and he should come back to walk. He should soon learn that jogging to get out of walking out proberly is not the easy option.
