Little Stig 24 hour on.....

What an amazing change from depressed to wide awake--he must feel so much better without the back packers eating him alive

The scary thing though is how many more little Stigs are hidden from view as pets in back gardens on rubbish diets
My neighbour, a postman, became aware of one kept in a garage with no grazing available he managed to get it re-homed
We all need to keep our eyes open

Once clipped it became clear that he has had a ciggarette or two put out on him, and a couple of his teeth are broken, probably due to being dragged along in a bit.

He looks so much better, dare I say actually like a pony now. Echo everyone else, you and your OH have done an amazingl thing taking him in. Love the name too, heres to Little Stig, am sure he has got a wonderful life ahead of him.

he is so gorgeous, and looks so unbelievably trusting in your photos, which is amazing considering what the poor little boy has been through.

I am horrified though. I didnt initially realise the photo was a pony. How on earth did your OH find him. I hope he pulls through and hasnt got anything long lasting like worm damage or ragwort poisoning. I bet your vet was a bit shocked

I never cease to be amazed at the depths humans sink to in their treatment of animals and children (basically all those who are defenceless).

This post and the one about the skewbald mare beaten to death in latest news highlight this.

At least Stig (great name) will live, he will learn to trust humans and no doubt give years of pleasure.

I shall donate to WHW on his behalf.

First post I've read this morning and that has brightened up my day already

, he actually looks like a pony now!

Wonderful job, he is very lucky to have you.

Think most on here know that I am normally Mr Angry so I dont need to describe how I feel about the people who let this animal get into this state and what they have done

Anyway it's absolutaly beyond words to see his immediate improvement,

Thank God he found you.

It's heart breaking to think there may be others out there in a similar condition.

If we could only find them ...

Well Done!! He looks great!!

I bet he'll be pretty much unrecognisable in a week or so!! Its so sad when ponies are left to get into such a state, but its so nice to watch them get better!!

Well done he looks so much better already he's a real sweetie, love seeing him in that cozy straw!! Bet he slept well last night! Can't wait to see his progress x

Read this first thing but cried so much (at work) that I've only just managed to compose myself to come back on. I cant put into words how much I admire you and your OH, thank God for people like you and I just pray this little darling pulls through.

God only knows what I'd like to do to the people who had him, like someone just said, my heart breaks for the ones we don't know about xxxxxx

QR poor little thing, he looks much better already.

Sadly if the owners had rung welfare places and just described him as unwanted they would have struggled to take him, as they do try to save space for the welfare cases. If they'd been aware of his state (and you can bet the old owners didn't tell them that as they must have realised how awful it was at least on some level) they would have found room I'm sure. That's why it's so crucial to report welfare concerns that you have so they can go out and do something about it.

I hope he carries on making good progress. I'm sure that if you do need any advice the welfare orgs will be able to help if you call them.

WELL DONE . Poor poor little mite, and to have been tortured too, broken teeth and burns. I'm so bl**dy angry I want to cry but cant.
Please keep us informed with regular updates about the little chap.
I hope you wont be offended if I say PLEASE do feed him most carefully. I have experience of terribly thin ponies through doing equine charity work and the great problem is organ failure a few days after starting to pick up.[ something to do with the organs not being able to deal with the nutrition]. So ,please consult your vet carefully.
I'm sure you are already doing this, so I hope I havent caused offense.
I DO SO want this little chap to pull through. Bless him, hes wonderful.
