Little study regarding the names of bits

'Twas a balding gag, cheltnham has eggbutt sides I do believe

It was indeed a balding, but I get the balding (loose ring) and the Salisbury (fixed, ball cheek) muddled up. The Cheltenham (egbutt) is the easy one :D

I wanted to say more about the double as well - not sure my abbreviations were decipherable!

I gave up and didn't try. How on earth do you abbreviate ported, and lozenge and all the other things you want to say. Go on Rowreach, what did you actually write to explain all the things you wanted to say!
 
Ditto this! Actually quite enjoyed doing that. Terminology of bits is quite a favourite subject of mine, get quite irate when people get the terms wrong - but is there a right or wrong hey? Good luck with your project!

Ditto! I loved that! I love bits and how they work. I don't understand how more people don't understand how they work and the mechanics behind them!!
