Ok you wise and wonderful lot...I will be having two little weanlings (Section A/B and Section B) and and a Section B yearling very soon and they are absolutely adorable, so there will be a massive photo thread when they arrive, but...they haven't had a lot of handling. Very sweet little things, but I think it will be a good idea to leave headcollars on them while they get to know me and build their confidence and handling/catching skills.

So, any recommendations for field safe/leather head collars for very small heads?

It would be fair to say, I am getting rather excited and would also appreciate if anyone knows of websites that stock bits and bobs (not actual bits, lol) for little ponies??

My sec B yearling is in pony sized things so is a little easier to buy for than my smaller sec A who is a nightmare to buy stuff for

Dinky Rugs are a good company for various items

KM Elite make good small headcollars and English Bridles make nice leather ones. A normal headcollar or slip can be customised by sawing out the metal rings and replacing them with the rubber rings for normal fieldsafe headcollars.

You won't need rugs or anything, they're mountain ponies. I'm with you on not leaving head collars on, the 2yo pony and mule I rehomed from WHW this summer had their always left on head collars off in the first week. Just make sure they know what buckets contain and you're set. The 2yo pony in 4 months, and really very little handling I have already bitted really easily, he wears the bridle for a few mins and I take it off. The mule is another story lol. The bridle is a synthetic Libby's one and is great, it's basically a head collar with cheek piece attachments so you can lead off a bit or head collar, is really like it.

I think I have a foal head collar that fits our two, but might have a look at the dinky website now :)

Thanks! I'm set on what to do with them...i paid for keeping my own horse by backing and breaking Welshies by the truck load, literally. As a kid, it was my "job" and I have missed having them in my life so much. They are what I know...almost as much as I know myself...I'm just completely out of touch with buying things for tiny ponies, lol.

None will have rugs, they won't need them. I will get one ready for the foal when Doormouses little ones foals as it's likely to be very early.
