i look at adverts for horses for sale and get really wound up about horses that are advertised as 17hh when clearly you can see form the picture that they are no bigger than 16hh.... unless the person sat on board is a giant!!

(This has no bearing on me as i'm not even looking for a horse to buy :) )

it reminds me when i was younger at the stables - girls always used to believe their horses were upto a hand bigger than they were. And also would be younger then they actually were! i remember one such horse that was 6 when they got it then when asked in future it had got younger to 4 yo and stayed 4 for about the next 3 years!!!

What other silly things really get you wound up?? Uncessary tack? Wrapping horses up in cotton wool etc.....

(lets raise the blood pressure!!)

My friends used to put every kind of boot on their ponies! And then a martingale & breastplate, fluffy rein pieces, etc etc you name it they were pimped!!

Poor ponies, any wonder they could pick their feet up :P

P.S I probably would have done this too if I was as rich as them ;)

I remember one lady who desperately wanted her horse to be no bigger than 15hh for showing. She had its shoes removed, Feet filed down and left it for 24 hours with no water to dehydrate it.

Then she had it measured at *just* 15hh.

Unnecessary gadgets
Bling
People telling me what I should and shouldn't do
When I sayI have a horse, non-horsey people saying "ooh I bet that's expensive!!!"
Bitchiness at yard
People who don't even posess the politeness to say hello and goodbye and don't always respond when you say it first to them every single blinking day! (and you know they have heard you!)

People who can't raise a smile when they have jumped a good round or get placed at a show or even win a class or a championship! Some horsey people (not just restricting this to horsey people tho) are just blinking miserable!!!

Got it!!

When horse riders think the world owes them somthing... e.g. flapping bird scarers in a garden should be removed, safety tape which stops pedestrians walking in wet ashphalt should be taken away because it's flapping makes my horse spook... People mowing their lawns should stop when horse riders go passed...

It's selfish to think people should stop everything for you! It gives horse owners a bad reputation.

Horsey people who lie all the time!! Especially when you know it's not true!! One ex friend was particularly bad. We would go to a show and they would tell everyone at the yard how well their horse jumped when it refused everything! Then involve me by telling the story in front of me, so I had to agree!! I'm honest, if I did rubbish I will happil say :)

People who park too close to someone else's trailer or box so there's no space to get the ramp down - or no space for the horses to get off the ramp whilst it's down!

People lie about competition records, how old horse is, what breed horse is, ect and then you look things up. 7yo is 11. You don't compete at what you say you do and horse isn't what you say he is. None of it matters a hoot in the real world so why lie? That really just grates on my nerves. What we won't like you or your horse because he actually isn't what you claim? So stupid plus it makes me feel as if you assume I'm a giant idiot.

We bought our first pony and counteracted the "expensive" comment with "Yes, but it was cheaper to buy than your plasma TV and cheaper each month than your Sky contract, neither of which we have." Which was true at the time and we still don't have a plasma TV or Sky, can't afford with with all these blasted horses:D

As for the people who don't respond try "Morning you ignorant git" or some other choice expression. That should get a reaction:D

Riders who dont thank you when you have slowed down.................... if the horse is play up fair enough, but when dripping along on a long rein looking half dead, really annoys the hell out of me, gives riders a bad name and doesnt encourage cars to slow down next time.

People who belittle your acheivements to make theirs seem more important :(

People who willingly take all the help/support you can give them when their horse is being a bit of a turd, but tell you to "get a grip" when yours is acting up.

People who are overly competitive at local shows; I understand you're here to win but placing second isn't the end of the world and doesn't mean you need to shout at your horse!!

Boy racers on country lanes ......

People who look down on you because your rugs/tack aren't 'branded'

Some horsey people can be very strange indeed!!!

Excess tack is my main annoyance. Dislike seeing horses with martingales, flashes/drops/grakles and strong bits when the horse clearly doesn't need any of them. So many people seem to put things on automatically, especially martingales and a flash noseband - why?! I'd rather ride and compete my horse in a simple snaffle, no martingale and a cavesson personally...

Also hate seeing people smoking while sitting on the horse. Just looks so wrong.

I just let people get on with it... last year one girl bought my old horse (3 owners down the line) and got in contact saying she had just got a 12 year old ISH.. He was 9 when I got him in 2002... hey ho!

Just let her get on with it!!

I suppose in some ways having a 'younger' horse does reduce your insurance premiums and you get more cover.... hopefully he was an ISH when you got him in 2002 and hadn't miraculously changed breeding as well (although still looking the same!)

People with no manners.

Horses with no manners :mad:. Theres one that I just want to get hold of and tell it to pack it in every time I see the owner with it, the horse walks rings round her and she does nothing and now its started lashing out at other horses so every one has to move their horse so she can put hers in because she couldnt possibly tell it not to

Sorry rant over :p

Had the one that changes ages in a showing class depending on what the others say and the horses who are 'really naughty' when they dont do any thing and those who post pictures of them jumping 4ft when its really not even 3ft  those dont bother me that much just dont see the point really.

Gadgets - particularly draw reins and flash nosebands. Riders who think there's a quick fix rather than have the patience to follow correct training methods.

Mine is to do with haynets---only silly, but really does wind me up.

Grapping the knot on the rope and pulling the net closed, then tying the haynet up so that the knot of the rope is tied through the other knot (if that makes sense??)

The haynet is no longer a 'quick release knot, as the other knot gets tangled and you have to spend ages trying to undo!!!

If that makes sense - have a big glass of wine on me!!!!

AARRRGGHHH!!! Makes perfect sense to me and my husband and daughter both do it. Drives me up the wall!
