I have two ponies. One is a delight and takes everything in his stride.
The other is an 18 month old colt who has been jumpy with me despite being well handled in his previous home. I mucked up with the handling when I first had him and the breakdown of trust has taken a long time for him to overcome (absolutely my fault, I pushed him too fast too soon without letting him settle in first and I have kicked myself ever since)
He has slowly become ok with me doing little things around him like picking out his feet etc
Today I picked out his feet, checked his heels were ok, trimmed the scraggy ends off his tail, gave him a brush and checked him all over very thoroughly.
I know its only a small thing but its the longest time he has tolerated me in one go and I came away with the most massive beam on my face - better than any Christmas present
