She had surgary last night to remove the pellet. Original vet wanted to PTS said there was no hope. She is very bright in herself eating drinking still responding to touching her feet, so we asked to be refeered (sp) we were not giving up on her. So we went to the specialist vet and he had a lot more hope for her, he said its not the worse he had seen. So fingers crossed he said we wont see much differance for about four weeks until the swelling has gone down. She is coming home tom and will be nursed at home ( i was going to be a nurse) so he is happy for her to come out

It's times like this when I really hope that karma is real and that evil person gets a taste of their own medicine one day

I'm so pleased thing are looking positive for her though - she sounds like one hell of a lucky cat!

God they deserve a long and painful end themselves but so glad she's improving.

Some years ago my sisters cat got knocked down and suffered a spinal injury. Her tail always remained droopy but she was otherwise fine, lots of TLC and feeding her by hand to get her to eat. It was a long haul but fingers crossed for you

Thanks for the update - been thinking of kitty - so glad you decided to get second opinion - cats are such resilient little things they deserve every chance.

That's wonderful news and well done for giving her an extra chance. Notwithstanding the evil bstd who did it deserves to be shot themselves but you might not have had the resources to pay a vet to give her the chance.

I have a little story of my own about a 'shot' kitty.

I found our cat, Frankie, with a round hole in his upper hind hip, his tail wouldn't work and he was very, very sore. I whizzed him round to the Cat and Dog Vet who pronounced he had been shot, and did repairs costing mucho pounds. I got into all sorts of trouble when I went to our neighbours to enquire whether the farmer might have accidentally shot him (rats under the barn etc,) not cross, but baffled as to how in our small village it could have happened. I wanted to understand how it had happened, not start a war, but he's a touchy sod and wanted a row even though I completely accepted that if Frank was trespassing, he was on his own doing so!

Anyway this all simmered down until, some months later it happened again. This time, there was a hole, the floppy tail, but Frank was not as limping. Just so happened the Horse Vet was round that day. Oh, yes, he said, unperturbed. Your dog has bitten him. Occurs a lot and quite often the tail is paralysed for a few days and they limp round a bit!

I put a bit of Savlon on and left it at that. Frank still pounces on Patti but she's getting very old and her teeth are loose so it probably won't happen again. Cat and Dog Vet never found the pellet ..........strangely!!!!!!

Also, kitties are very good at re-jigging bits of themselves to work after paralysing types of injury and moving on less than four limbs is a doddle for them. Brain compensation seems to be very good in felines. Fingers crossed for an uneventful recovery.
