I have a little labradog, he's about 2.5 years old now.
When he was born he had deformed front legs. The breeder gave him too me. I originally took him on thinking at least he'd be pts quickly. However after a week or so it became clear he was in no pain and a very playful happy puppy. The vet agreed. He's had X-rays and non- invasive investigation work. The decision was that he probably had a peturity gland issue which had stopped some of his development.
Over the following weeks/months years he improved in leaps and bounds and just became everyone's best friend.
He built up muscles and got strong and learnt how to deal with things he found difficult (he's very bright!)
He spends his day at work with me where he mooches round and plays with the other dogs (and chickens, he likes the chickens 😉
At home he races round and plays like a nutter.
Until the last few days... It started with his yearly booster and he's just been quiet since. Really unlike him. He should now be irritating our other dogs with constant requests to play or getting told off by my OH for knocking things over or stealing his socks/the remote control (you get the picture!)
Instead he's in bed, and has been all evening.
He was perfectly normal at work today.
I'm so worried, I'm going to give him a few days on metacam just to see if he's in any pain (I can touch, prod poke anywhere with no real reaction).
If he's still not right after Christmas it's a vet trip.
Do I go to my new vet who has only recently met him but read his notes/X-rays and agreed he seems happy and pain free or try and get an appointment with his old vet who did the original investagatory work?
I'm not really sure what I'm wanting or why I'm telling you all this but everyone I've mentioned it to so far says I'm being silly and he's fine so not much help! Lost my beloved terrier in the summer and can't bear to have problems with this one, especially as he's been so good we kind of forget he has problems.
