dont no the cause, she has not eaten ragwort since i have had her, 10 years. our fileds are clear. It just suddenly come on for no reason. Thanks for suggestion, will post on veterinary. I heard milk thistle was good too mite give it ago.

thanks x

Dont lose hope. Either copy this thread to Vets page or PM Box of Frogs who will give you endless support and positive encouragement. She has been on holiday for a week but has just this minute arrived home. She is now on first name terms with Prof. Derek Knottenbelt and the top nutritionalist with D&H

Please let us know how you get on.

I think the milk thistle was only about £10 for a months supply for a 14.2hh horse so probably not a big expense in the grand scheme of things for you at the moment. Probably worth trying anyway.
So sorry, it must be scary for you.

I used NAF BLK for my Fell Pony, it really helped her. She could've eaten something before you got her - my vet said it can take upto 15 years for them to have visible symptoms. My ponies got it from the council spraying the weeds outside the field(after we had asked them not to without telling us as the same thing had happened to the YOs horse).

It's liver failure not hepatitus? I know (from insurance claims cases) we have had horses who have had hepatitis obviously affecting the liver and I think for the majority the recovery is pretty good. If it is liver failure from something such as ragwort poisoning though I think just try all possibly remedies to try help the liver function improve. Don't know much about horses and their livers unfortunately but I am sure there will be many supplements you caould get to help support the liver. I'd suggest getting on the internet and doing some research to be honest, i always find it helps!
