Meg is an 11yp border collie who has hip dysplasia and severe arthritis as a result of which she has been on anti-inflammatories for 5/6 years.
She's been being funny about eating the last couple of months so we ran some blood work as we knew her liver function was a bit off from routine blood work done about 4 months ago and her liver values have definately got quite a lot worse. The only thing that will stop the damage is stopping her pain meds which isn't an option - we're very much at the keep her comfortable and if that kills her liver/kidneys sooner rather than later thats what we deal with, I won't let her be in pain.
My vet is doing some reserach into the food she's on v whats available as a commercial liver friendly diet and we'll be having another conversation tomorrow but I was wondering what experience people on here have with diet / supplements for helping support liver function in dogs as much as is possible.
So far my vet has suggested starting her on milk thistle to help support things.
She's a bit complicated diet wise as she can't have lots of meat products (she does well on fish tho) and cna't have wheat or diary at all.
