I normally see my girl every day. In fact, in the little over a year I've had her, I've only missed seeing her a couple of days. One of them was today - I was feeling under the weather with this stupid broken toe so my daughter took care of her.

I hate days when I don't see her. I always feel like something's missing and I feel guilty because she really does seem to love to see me. :(

Part of the reason is because she's in a stall and on self-clean board but part of it is just because I love to see her. My daughter thinks I'm a bit silly because she goes out about twice a week to see her boy and is fine with it but he's pastured and she's used to it.

So how often do you see yours?

Every day, twice a day (unless I'm away on vacation or something). Sometimes I' there even more (for example, yesterday I went up in morning, turned out, went back at 1 to bring him back in, but wasn't ready to ride, came back to yard at 4 to work the horse).

Normally every day where possible! The only time not is if I am going on holiday or too ill, I don't mean a cold, I mean hospitalised! I kept him on a private yard so I had to go!

The last horse I shared so maybe a few times a week but now she has moved back home ie 100 miles away, I am completely out of the loop I don't like it!

Every day weekdays and twice a day weekends and holidays but if out 24/7 in summer once a day.

I am lucky cos if miss a day with work or something my hubby also has a horse on livery so he does both or vice versa.

We have only missed 2 days when put them on full livery in 2 and a half years.

AM and PM unless I am away when YO takes over. Her home is on the yard which is great to know that if anything did happen she is there and can if needed call the vet out before I got to the yard. Like most I need my horsey fix. This is my time and I enjoy having my time with the horses.

At least twice a day, couldn't manage without seeing them, would worry at leaving them for longer as if in would be needing feed/water/muck out, when out i like to top up fly spray/check rugs, fly mask and all legs etc intact!! After essentials then I just like to potter around them and get odd jobs done, couldn't do without seeing my girls!

Sorry being a bit dumb with the US terminology. When you say in a stall.. Is that stabled?

And your daughters is out at grass??

So is your kept in a stall all the time?
x

I see Harry morning and evening for feeding :) 3 times yesterday as he got the fence down but the person who discovered this was "too busy" to put it back up, yet was still at the yard once I got there!! So glad I live close though. Didn't see him for a week in the winter because the roads were so bad due to snow and ice and I hated it :(

Mines on part livery. So I go every evening after work, ride or not, groom, spend time with her and see her twice each day on the weekends as I'm DIY then. I love spending time with my horse and I know she misses me when I am away on hols, so take it she likes to see me too :D

Twice a day, AM and Pm which makes it very hard when I have to go away for a week. Even if I trust the person looking after him completly I still feel that I should be there for him.

Zoom lives out 24/7 in a big herd. I go twice a day in Winter to give her grub/change rugs etc.

I usually only go once a day in summer though, unless I'm riding in the morning, then I go again in the evening for dinner time.

Every day. Even though he is out 24/7 I still go up and bring him in for a small feed as I have to give him his supplements - and he gets a wee groom and a massage too and his fly spray on if he needs it :)

Yup and me!!

When im away im on the phone every 5 minutes asking about my boys. My friend who looks after them when im away sends me an update in the morning then ignores all my other texts, and then updates me again in the evening, she know me too well lol! :D

Every day, twice a day and all day saturday and most of the day sunday lol, and i haven't been on holiday without my horses for 5 years - i dont like to leave them haha so i took them with me last year =D was a well good holiday :) x

I go twice a day - morning and evening. They live out 24/7 in the summer so I poo pick twice a day and fly spray etc. In the winter they come in at night. I think they like to see me and I would worry leaving them for any longer as they are on a private yard so don't get checked or seen by anyone else.
We don't go on holidays because of the horses, even if we did I would worry about them.

Bills, you would drive me nuts, lucky for you your friend is so easy going! When I used to look after one for a friend who had frequent holidays I didn't hear a thing from her for the whole time she was away - she knew I would let her know if there was a problem.

I see mine twice a day, every day - but they are DIY so I have no choice in that

I'm on DIY so I usually go to see her twice a day. Sometimes though, if I'm tired (usually up at 5am so sometimes it does catch up with me!), or have a rare social event, I will ask our YO to look after her for a morning or evening (especially on fence judging days). Cost wise, it's about the same as the diesel it would take me to get there, and YO is very capable, so I don't mind having the odd "day off" :)

Stall = stable, yes.

I am not sure about the US, but in Canada, DIY (self clean?) board is quite unusual. No-one I know offers it, Boarding (livery) is all inclusive, whether that is stall board (stabled with turnout) or pasture. None of my Boarders are expected to lift a finger, all daily care is done for them, all they do is turn up, groom and do whatever. That's how it works with me anyway.

I have Boarders who show up every day, some come up every once in a while, and some who come down every few months or don't ever come down, often owners who live a long way from here - I have one who lives in Vancouver, about as far away as you can get and still be in the same country! It makes no difference to me, none of my business, I treat their horses the same as I do my own, I get paid to do a job and I do it.

Wow! No DIY livery at all!

I had my mare on part livery for 3 months (she was my only horse at that time) and I hated it. She didn't feel like she was mine at all, plus they didn't get on with her (or rather she was wary of them). They were meant to bring her in every morning but she generally wouldn't let them catch her. It was weird because even my non-horsey Mum who struggles to put a headcoller on correctly was able to catch her including the mare stood with head lowered while the headcoller was put on and off again about 10 times until it was correct! So basically I looked after her as if she was on DIY and paid for part livery with alot of moaning about how terrible she was thrown in! :(

I moved her to DIY for 3 1/2 years and we were both much happier. I now keep her at my parent's field with my other horses so it's essentially like having my own land/yard.

Sometimes part or full livery doesn't suit so I was surprised you don't have the DIY option.

Every day. The groom gets him in early mornings and I go straight there after work barring Parents' Evenings and meetings. If the OH is at work and I'm not, I can be there all day.

Every day where possible (: If not, the YO or friends will see to the boys, but that's only if we -can't- get there for some reason. At the moment I only get to see Dan about once a day though as I'm riding for someone else in the mornings whose yard is in the opposite direction to where he's stabled, so mum drops me off then goes to t/o & muck out... :(

every day twice a day. Hard to get out of bed sometimes, but once I'm at the yard, all is forgotten ! If I have to miss a day, I feel very unsettled - these horses are sooo addictive. And such a tie too.
