Hi,

Does anyone know of any good livery yards for either DIY or Part livery in north london (barnet area) that are not ridiculously expensive, or any yards that maybe for rent? i have 2 horses looking for a few acres.

Also, how do i find a good farrier/vet/detist in the area?

I am relocating to london, so any help would be greatfully received

thanks

Personally having been there myself, I would move just a bit further out to the southern bits of herts, midldlesex or essex depending on where you are in north london.
London itself generally means having to compromise on space and turnout and hacking and can be expensive relatively.
If you do a search on here you should find a few threads. A lot of the good yards have waiting lists so it may be worth visiting a few and going on the list as soon as you can.

For vets I use the royal vet college (usually Jason)n using the rvc has the advantage if you need a referral to the hospital as it keeps everything in one place. but don't start me on farriers as I may go into a rant and libel several people.

I don't know about yards to rent but I used to be in North London / Herts so here are a few livery yards I've heard of:

Bury farm in Edgeware is DIY with a few freelance grooms around if you want one. Decent t/o and facilities. Indoor school, a fair bit of hacking (given it's in London), 24 hour summer turn out and all day winter turn out.

Strangeways is in Borehamwood, which I know has good facilities. It's quite a large business with an r/s attached.

Vale Farm is right in High Barnet (Mays Lane) but I know nothing about it except for driving past! Sorry.

North Medburn in Elstree is meant to be small and friendly (know it through word of mouth).

South Medburn (next door) is lovely but perhaps not for you if you want plenty of turn out.

Hope this helps!

Mill Hill has Frith Manor and London Equestrian, there is Mote End in Barnet - and Arkley View is another one (used to be at Frith but ages ago and only know the others from that they exist) also a couple of private small yards in Totteridge along the main road.

Vets, yes, used RVC when down there, Farrier I can't remember name, they were organised by the yard. Venturing out towards Herts means better hacking...
