Tilly had the vet up last week to finally treat her sacroid with Liverpool Cream (following an unsuccessful bloodroot ointment treatment). It didn't change at all on the first application, swelled slightly following the second application and was slightly sore following the third and final application last Friday. She is a tiny bit sore if you really poke it (I'd imagine she'd lift a leg if I tried to do a girth up (since it lies on the girth)) but otherwise the swelling has completely gone and the sarcoid just looks pretty much the same, maybe a wee bit bigger and flatter if anything but not really much of a noticeable difference.

The vet said to expect it to react (though some horses don't react at all in a visible way) and that it was likely to look very sore and swollen for a good few weeks (but again not always) and said assuming the treatment works I'll find that one day 8-12 weeks following treatment it will just drop off.

Just wondering if this all sounds normal and how other peoples horses reacted. Also, how sucessful has it been? Has the sarcoid come back or others developed?

Sounds about right to me. My boy had Liverpool cream - 4 applications - for a suspected sarcoid below his ear, right where the bridle went. It had crusted over and sort of raised up after a few weeks and has now dropped off completely and you'd never know it had been there. Fingers crossed.

Sounds about right. My friend's horse had a huge sarcoid on his chin, and straight after the applications it didn't really change. However it gradually got harder and smaller, and eventually after quite a few months it fell off, looking like a small boulder

He had the treatment last spring, and so far it hasn't come back, and he hasn't got any more.

My horse had one on his wither/neck just where the neck strap sits and one on his groin, the liverpool cream was amazing. the one on his neck fell off in 2 weeks. it went black and dry and just fell off, much quicker than i thought! the one on his groin took longer , like others have described above. it def had a systemic effect too, as he had a nodule on his pastern which has now gone without treatment!

Can all vets prescribe Liverpool Cream?.....My vet had no knowledge! I'd love to give it a go on my mare as the homoeopathic scarcoid treatment seems such a fag....
