If you have had your horse treated with Liverpool Cream for sarcoids, how successful has it been?

Have they all gone? Have only a few gone? Did they go and then reappear elsewhere later?

Hi yes I had my mare treated with it about 2yrs ago and it was a complete success. She had 4 small ones on her tummy 1 between her front legs and 1 occult type one right up inside her hind leg, a very awkward spot to get to!! I am convinced hers were caused by stress though due to her being very upset travelling in a particular trailer we had at that time. She hated it and used to get very upset going in it and travelling in it, I sold it and got a lorry and she has been fine since and no reoccurrence of the dreaded sarcoids. Now my daughters pony who came over from Ireland last year now has 2 which are about to be treated with the l'pool cream it I am not as optimistic about his because I think his were definitely caused by flies and one of them is huge so just have to wait and see. It's very unpleasant but from wht I gather all horses deal with it differently, my mare found it very painful and really objected after the first couple of apps but vet just sedates and butes so all good

Yes had one occult sarcoid treated with it last year. Horse needed three applications of full strength cream. First time it swelled up to the size of maybe a grapefruit within a few hours, vet recommended a couple of Danilon a day for 5 days to help with any soreness. It was back to normal size by the following morning (after first treatment), after being turned out all night. He didn't mind the subsequent applications, isn't funny now about having that area touched, and was never touchy about it while it was scabbing up and coming off. Over a few weeks it turned into a big scab which fell off, then some odd skin which also fell off. Then it was just fresh, pink skin. This took about 6-8 weeks in total. Been checked twice by vets since (the vet who did it treatment and someone else, as I've moved now) and both were happy it had completely gone and healed nicely.

Mine was treated over 10 years ago, needed 2 courses to completely get rid but he had quite a lot,had no re-occurence since. If I ever have one with sarcoids again wouldn't hesitate to use this treatment.
