Ok i know this has been done a lot on here and ive trawled a few posts but got differing reviews.

Are they as good as people say?
Are they cheaper than your average horse on straw?
What are they like with an VERY dirty, wet horse on them?

Delivery problems? frequent?
Do most of you pay the increased VAT for 'horse bedding' rather than wood fuel VAT?

Is it easy to muck out?
Dust?

AGHH sorry for the questions!

Im looking into them but dont want to spend £200 on a delivery until im sure!

Thanks for any help guys!

I use Corley Bio wood - same stuff, just different supplier :) but i cant comment on LWP quality specifically.

Are they as good as people say?

Yes.

Are they cheaper than your average horse on straw?

Yes.

What are they like with an VERY dirty, wet horse on them?

My mare is very wet. Her stable has never smelled like it did on straw. My pony was also on them, she was quite messy, but much much better on pellets than straw.

Delivery problems? frequent?

Get mine within 2 days of order - delivery man even helped me stack them!

Do most of you pay the increased VAT for 'horse bedding' rather than wood fuel VAT?

Yes i pay the increased VAT given that i cant really say theyre for fuel when they are being delivered straight into a horse barn!

Is it easy to muck out?

Yes. I semi deep litter and take out the wet on weekends. Takes me less than 5 mins in the mornings to skip out and rake over. The wet is heavy though, but easily removed as it 'clumps' :)

Dust?

Ah yes, have noticed the older the bed and heat means it can get dusty! i keep a watering can at stables and 'water' the bed as needed.

AGHH sorry for the questions!

I took the plunge a couple of months ago and despite delivery problems I will not be changing back.

Doing my sums roughly I am expecting to half my bedding costs, if not more.

The Welsh Cob is quite clean so I couldn't comment there.

Delivery was my only issue. I was about to tell them where they could stick their pellets when the delivery driver finally appeared, but in LWP defence the driver told me the pallet had been on his lorry for days. So I had to wait because the delivery company was incompetent, not LWP, also they were very apologetic and have given me credit off my next order.

umm yes I think I did.

So easy to muck out, takes me 5 minutes! It does get dusty in hot/humid weather, but I just pour a watering can over, this does the trick.

All in all I'd happily recommend them

I am in disagreement with the above 2 comments - my mare is very wet and dirty, on the wood pellet it absolutely stunk and ended up looking like peat where she just pee'd and pee'd and they couldn't cope, so they ended up costing me more because i was using bag loads of them trying to keep it looking clean, ended up shovelling the lot out and switching back to straw, have no idea where you are in the country but I still have 14 bags left and if you are anywhere near essex you are welcome to them to try before you buy, I bought the 200 bales for cheapness and all besised the 14 I have left went through them like no tomorrow.

Service though was very good and delivery very quick.

I was much like you, and came on here for others experiences before taking the plunge. From what I gather a few people have had delivery problems but they appear to be the fault of the dispatch company rather than LWP.

Everytime I spoke with LWP they were very helpful if a little difficult to understand.

It was only when I finally got my delivery that the lorry driver had the cheek to whinge to me that he'd had the pallet on the lorry for nearly a week...tell me about it I'd been waiting for the damn thing!! Apparently "management" wouldn't send him in my direction just for me, and them claimed they couldn't get hold of me!

On a side note The Welsh Cob is horrid and wet on straw, quite messy on shavings and seriously clean on pellets, but thats just my experience :D

I have been using wood pellets and liked them until I was informed that it is in fact pelleted sawdust - DUST! So I steam my forage - then they sleep in dust!!

You mean you've been using them and you didn't notice that the pellets are made up of tiny pieces of wood, not so much dust? Blimey!

Are they as good as people say?
I really love them. I wouldn't go back to shavings and don't like straw

Are they cheaper than your average horse on straw?
Can't comment.

What are they like with an VERY dirty, wet horse on them?
My old gelding liked to walk around his box so was very messy, he also wee'd a lot. I have rubber mats so just kept my bed to a minimum and chucked most of it out. It wasn't very cheap for him but shavings would have been even more!

Delivery problems? frequent?
No problems at all, I have heard a few tales of woe but I've had about 5 deliveries from LWP and they have always delivered on the day I specified

Do most of you pay the increased VAT for 'horse bedding' rather than wood fuel VAT?
Nope :/ i'm naughty! I get them delivered to home and take them to the yard (we get charged for deliveries by YM so this is win, win for me!)

Is it easy to muck out?
Super easy!
Dust?
This is the first time i've noticed that they were a little dusty but i just gave them a quick shower which stopped the dust and fluffed up my bed at the same time :)

I've used them for a year now and would never change back. I wouldn't say they are necessarily cheaper than straw or shavings, but they are soooo much quicker to muck out and the waste you take out is not too bulky (massive bonus if you have a muck trailer that is a cost to empty). My horse seems to enjoy them, we've never had an issue with dust and he will happily sleep on them. One of my liveries was concerned that the bed is not fluffy enough for her horse to lie down on (pampered!) so she put in some shaving banks which seem to work well. I hate shavings though... mainly because I seem to spend most of my days wearing soiled shavings in my hair after banking up the muck trailer.
I have had issues with delivery. You need to be specific about how much space you have as one time they sent me an enormous lorry that couldn't get up my lane (even though a smaller one had previous... not a lorry expert... ) so they just dumped a whole pallet at the bottom of the track and I had to wheelbarrow them up. Not that fun. I also had one experience where I had to wait along time for them. To be fair I got a bit fiery with them on the phone and they delivered the next day, but I wasn't amused as I had to go and buy a load of shaving bales for my liveries out of my pocket as we were totally out. They would freely admit they had had problems with logistics though. They sent out an email apologising to all customers and I don't think they've had problems since?
I pay the extra VAT because they are delivering to my stables, and also I'm a worrier about that sort of thing... so wouldn't be able to enjoy using them! Sad I know. ..

Pros - cost, ease of mucking out, less of a muck heap. Can't comment on delivery as we have a merchant on the same farm as our yard so fodder and bedding magically appears in the barn.

Cons - rugs are DISGUSTING. My boy lives in a turnout which has to be fumigated at the end of the winter. He wears a summer sheet at this time of year which has to be repeatedly washed; can't leave him naked as the wet and poo sticks to him and then attracts the flies in the field. (He's on part livery and I think it would be pushing it to get them to brush him before he goes out!)
Stable stains similarly are horrendous - I'm lucky that he's dun and I can get away with it just for schooling etc; I had a grey on them at another yard and although she was semi retired I almost lost the will to live.

If you don't use a full bed, fussy horses such as mine can be a bit unwilling to pee until they are really desperate. He was actually better on a full wood pellet bed and no mats although of course then you lose some of the convenience advantages.

I ike them. Delivery wise i had no trouble at all, I think they were a day later than expected but they do give you a call the day before so it wasn't like i was sat waiting!
My horse is fairly clean but his stable gets very wet- it comes under one wall and i found with shavings after a night of heavy rain id almost chuck the whole bed away. Pellets really contain the wet along that wall, so they save me a fortune.
I have stopped using them as i found they became dusty when the weather dried up. I will certainly be using them again next winter though, I cant afford either the time or money not too!

Are they cheaper than your average horse on straw? NO, both my messy mare and Ben share a big bale of straw, it lasts currently about 5-6 weeks, costs £23 a bale so works out about £2.30 per horse a week, I used to use about 1-2 two bags of pellets a week so not cheaper in my opinion.
What are they like with an VERY dirty, wet horse on them?
They can be a life saver in these cases, and as you generally mix the wet back in they tend to do the job for you, so all you need to do is rake out the poo...
Delivery problems? frequent?

Is it easy to muck out? YES... Very
Dust?... Minimal. it's really good,

AGHH sorry for the questions!

I've answered within your quoted area.

I use these http://www.luxurywood.co.uk/wood-pellets?gclid=CNvT_ezjur4CFebItAod8BkAhQ I have EVA mats in the stables and started with 10 bags of pellets. Mucking out is really easy, I take the wet out every second or third day. One of my mares is very wet and messy and I find I am using a lot less bedding than I used to. I can't compare the price with straw but I used to use cardboard and pellets are cheaper. Delivery has been fine. I can't think of any negative points about using wood pellets.

Are they as good as people say?
I think they are okay. Never really looks 'clean' though. Horses seem to like them though and doesn't take me long to muck out a stable. Used to take me a good 40 minutes to do 3 stables, now it seems to be quicker. Depends on how bad the bed is though.
Are they cheaper than your average horse on straw?
Roughly the same cost.
What are they like with an VERY dirty, wet horse on them?
Not so brilliant. Smell is horrendous. It literally makes me want to gag sometimes. It's turns this vile red colour when wet and goes all slushy.
Delivery problems? frequent?
Have had delivery problems in the past, quite often actually. Didn't tell us they'd ran out of stock, so just thought they'd deliver them two weeks later than expected. That was fun. Not.
Do most of you pay the increased VAT for 'horse bedding' rather than wood fuel VAT?
I don't buy them, YO does. Think she does, just for her own piece of mind I suppose.
Is it easy to muck out?
Yes, unless they have wee'd everywhere. That is when I wish you luck. I do find you have to take quite a bit out. It takes me one biiiiig barrow full with the quad for one bed.
Dust?
Can become VERY dusty. I just like to soak them in plenty of water first, and I mean plenty. I find it goes super fluffy and doesn't give the horses as much of a cough as straw used to.
