I know for Ireland versus the UK- full livery is more popular in Ireland compared to UK... in Ireland you have less opportunities to work close to your home so there is usually more people interested in full livery.

Prices are definitely too low - full livery (everything included except exercise) is €140, DIY in most yards is about €50/60 including nothing other than stable & facilties.

There are lots of Irish horse chat groups on FB you can post on anonymously either aswell to get more accurate Irish based info - they really are very different markets!

Thank you I have things posted on fb groups too and it’s interesting how much it’s fluctuating between yards

OP, is any of this proposed livery yard and arena built yet? How much is it all going to cost and what return will you need on it to make a profit?

You are well meaning but your posts on this forum show that you lack experience with horses, so you would have to factor in staff wages as well to run the yard.

Work out what you will beed to recoup per month to make a worthwhile profit, and then work out how much each stable needs to bring in. You may well find a significant and possibly unbridgeable gap between what you need to charge and what your local market will bear.
I do have people working with me yes and I know it’s expensive but I’m looking at grants which hopefully if go through will pay 75% so I am not over my head with this

You can't compare with other yards. You need to break down everything that is a cost and then see what that equates to per box. Also the term "Full Livery" is very varied so you need to decide what exactly you will include in your livery package and cost accordingly.

I will measure one later, ? my horse would eat two small bales of hay easily in a night, his haynets go right over me. For one horse I use one round bale every 3 1/2 weeks
I used to have a horse on loan who would regularly go through a round bale in 21-24 days, but I believe that was roughly 10kg per day. Another livery gave her horse 6kg per night and a large round bale would last them around 6 weeks, so I don't think 10kg is too far out. I don't despute larger horses will eat more, but would expect round bale to last roughly a week, not 3 1/2, if on 30kg a day.

Yeah i agree with you, if someone has an ulcer horse and the best thing to do is give ad lib hay , before I leave the yard I hang up 3 x 9.5 kg nets, he doesnt finish them all but at least I know hes got enough ? but no , a big round bale lasts 3/4 weeks for me

You don’t think people want livery in Donegal?
no, you are takling about high-end livery to recoup the costs of building stables like you have described and providing a top class livery service.
you should be charging €600pm full livery, but you won't have the market for that in donegal.

My last horse and my present one eat one large round bale every 2 weeks and 3 or 4 days. I don't feed an excessive amount, large net at night, small tub late night, medium net left out under tub in paddock for during the day and a small net to come into. Bailey was 17.1hh and weighed about 700kg, Lari is 16.3hh and weighs about 660kg.
