Can anyone out there help me with recommendations or offers?

I have two well behaved geldings looking for a new yard.

I am quite open and flexible to what I want - minimum would be stables, grazing and some hacking locally (quiet roads or off road), plus some sort of electricity and water available. Would be great if there was an all weather menage (floodlit), off road hacking and people around to talk to!

Need decent size stables as I have a 16.3 and a cob who gets cast in 'small' stables!

I live in Hilton so don't want anything too far away, but would consider things within 15 minutes drive.

Yard can be anything from someone's own field with stables in, just wanting to earn some pocket money from their land, to a full scale yard (although not too big please as I just can't cope with all the b*****ness that comes with them!).

If you can recommend any yards or give me feedback on yards NOT to think about, I would really appreciate it (please don't suggest Eland Lodge, Hargate or Barleyfields).

I am looking for a minimum of DIY and maximum of part livery - I just can't afford anything more than that!

Thanks in advance :)

assuming your not ruling out Eland Lodge because its too far there are a couple of other nice yards in Newborough - perhaps drive round Brickhill Lane and Dolefoot Lane

Have you tried oakdene? Not far from Barleyfields/hargate, I know a few people that keep their horses there happily, it is hacking distance to comps at barleyfields and hargate.

Or they do DIY at highfields happy hens, also hacking distance from barleyfields and hargate.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Ali27 - can't seem to find any telephone numbers etc for anywhere in Marchington. If you know of anywhere at all, would be grateful! Thanks

Ash493 - Eland is way out of my price league (especially with 2 horses), but I think the distance may just be a little far. Thanks for the suggestion though.

KristmasKatt - I have Oakdene on my list and they seem really nice but my big boy won't like their stables (they're really dark and enclosed - he's a funny thing!). Didn't know about Happy Hens, so will give them a ring and see what they say. Thanks for the idea.

Just spoken to a friend and she was going to move her boy to Suzy Watson at meadow view stables, Anslow however it is a riding stables too so may be too busy! I will try and get some details of more yards!

Thanks again Ali27. I had heard good things about Meadow View, but it wouldn't suit me and my boys due to it being a riding school. Oh well, the search goes on...

I have to agree with you as I couldn't keep my girls at a riding stables either! I would give Hanbury Park a call as they seem to tick most of your boxes but I'm not sure what their stables are like.

That's a shame! I have to say that I have never visited it! There must be somewhere else closer to you! Try dropping into Larkhill saddlery and see if they have any suitable yards in their book. I will ask my friend when I see her tomo night to see if she has any ideas.

I know. Oh well, I WILL find somewhere suitable!!

Went to Larkhill yesterday and have got all their adverts, plus CWG. Don't know where else to look now.

There is a nice yard just off the A50, nice hacking, menage etc - Starbucks is or used to be there ( not sure since she moved ) - from the Hargate turning ( A516??) towards Uttoxeter 5 mins - Foston area

sorry forgot to say....two yards @ Boylestone and Stydd House @Yeavesley ( not sure if too far)
