Hi, All im new to the forum and the area! ive just moved down from wales, I need to Move my horses down here asap, can any body please reccomend livery yards in the Devon Area?
Closer to Exeter the better, as I am working there. Also places to avoid as I really dont want to have to keep moving about! (feel free to message me)

Thanks.

Thanks Bosworth, Im living in Crediton at the moment, so Okehampton is the wrong way, shame as from your website you place looks wonderful.

Sorry I can't recommend anywhere near you, as I am in West Devon.
Have you looked in the local tack shops or Avon farmers for advertisements? Alternatively you could just drive around the area you would like to be and ask at likely looking places, you might hit on the right place or get onto a waiting list!

Good luck!

No do we have any big tack shops here? sorry Ive been here two weeks and have been sorting out the house, and new job. I wouldnt know where to drive too to hunt for yards :D

Try Town and Country Supplies at Broadclyst (best tack shop near Exeter), Farmers friend in Exeter. Mole Avon in Crediton. Pick up the Western Morning News on a Wednesday. Try googling livery yards Exeter.

Agree with all of what you say! Only the horse section in the Western Morning News is now in Fridays paper!

M3gan have they changed it back again to Fridays, cos it was originally friday, then last year they changed it to Wednesday - stupid really as i would think a Friday was far better for looking for a horse for sale

This may be useful:

Also Rollestone Stud, I think, take liveries.
If I could remember the name of the Newbery's place I'd look it up for you, their yard used to be very close to Exeter.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the link, will give a couple a call. Im Deffinatly not wanting to go a riding school. I do a fair bit of competing and can be away for work so need good facilities and the option of PL.

Rollestone, I googled but the website seems to be down, is it just a stud or a livery yard aswell?

I was gonna say Newhall (not sure if they do DIY though), and Hyperion, theres also Hitts Barton and Glebe & Upton Pyne, but those 2 might be a bit too far?

Does glebe and upton pyne have a website??

ive found the one for hitts, and its a riding school, ... im more of a quet livery yard type of person, I also could see issues getting in the schools etc with a riding school.

Newhall looks good, and pt livery is an option but I think its to far out.

keep them coming though guys! good thinkg is ive not heard any thing bad about any of the yards mentioned!

A HHOer works asa rider at Newhall!

Upton Pyne is nice friendly place. Well always seemed it when I visited. And I know a YR team dressage rider kept her horse there during term time (at Exeter uni) so obviously facilities are up to scratch ;) :p

Where I used to be will prob be too far out as Cullompton so can't be much more help!

Whereabouts are you? It depends on what sort of livery you want, i.e. DIY or all-done. Suggest you go to Town and Country supplies at Crannaford, Broadclyst, and put an advert up. Or if you're in East Devon country there's a feedmerchants called Sargents at Tipton St John (just south of Ottery St Mary) and they've got loads of adverts up there for all sorts of livery; nice riding country too!

My boy is on working livery at Bicton College; they might take a full or DIY livery (not cheap, but very very nice! + superb riding country).

PM me if you like. Might even see you out hacking, depending on where you are!

Strangles - where? I know Rollestone had a battle with strangles last year going on posts on here from one of their liverys but thought that was all over with a long time ago!
