Hi, I'm desperately seeking stabling and grazing in Letchworth. I'm new to the area and don't have a clue where to begin! I desperately miss my horse and need her here with me! Thanks in advance for any help :)

Yes but thank you for the suggestion... I have contacted them and I'm going to have a look around tomorrow...

It's the only place in Letchworth I've been able to find!

Thanks again :)

Hi

Try giving Standalone Farm a call - they own/run a number of yards around the area so may be able to help you. The numbr should be in the phone book or you should be able to get it on the net.

I used to keep my horse at Nortonbury which is in Norton just outside Letchworth, which is run by Standalone farm - it is a completely DIY yard and you are totally left to your own devices, quite cheap as well, but no sevices available etc.

Before i had him there i was at Ickleford Equestrian centre - it was nice, they offer services and have a proper school etc. and is quite busy as it is also a riding school/pony club centres. I also learnt to ride at North Herts Equitation centre - although know very little about it as a livery yard. So i guess it depends what you are after.

Hope this helps, hope you are enjoying Letchworth - i lived there for many years, and my parents are still there, however i have now moved away.

Vic

Thanks for all the info! I was actually given the number for Alison at standalone farm just now and told she has a place in Baldock, so I will see how that goes...
I must admit I am concerned by just how busy Ickleford gets, but I've arranged to see it at the weekend so I can get a good idea of how many people come and go!
The decision seems to be pay for the facilities or save money and forget about the facilities! North herts is a little far for me to travel twice a day, everyday but I shall look into the one at Norton.
And yes thanks I am loving Letchworth... though I have missed my baby and can't wait to have her here with me and hopefully meet some new people along the way :)
Thanks again!

Hi there Tami,

I've just found your thread and I wondered if you had much luck around Letchworth in the end? My fella and I are looking to buy a house there in September (fell in love with the area!), but we have 2 gelding ponies and now (whilst I know it is very early!) looking for potential grazing land for them.

They will be just over 2 years old when we get there so just really looking for grazing at the moment with a stable/shelter for those nasty winters we keep having. When they are older I will be looking for something with more facilities to assist their training, although they will never be big enough for me to ride, children and driving is the way forward for them!

I'd be really interested to hear from you and your discoveries!

Many thanks! :D

Nicki

Hi Nikki, yes I did get it all sorted in the end! :)

I'm very happy where I am - lots of grazing, have to be stabled at night during the winter but out 24/7 in the summer. Next door is a place with far more facilities, but they have very restricted grazing. I'm amazed by how many places there are in the area - far more than I know about! If you're on facebook, join the groups "Everything Equine, Herts, Beds, Bucks and the Rest of the World" and "Hertfordshire Horseriders" there are people on these groups that know far more places than I do haha! Also, please feel free to add me on there (Tami Mason) and I'll put you in touch with some people who may be able to help :)

(P.S Highly recommend Letchworth, next week I'll have been here 3 years and I really love it!)

Tami

Hi Tami,

That's great news! It's so nice to hear that you love the area too, hopefully means our guts are telling us the right thing!

I've joined both the groups you suggested on Facebook and posted on both so fingers crossed I'll hear something back soon. The pages seem to take a really long time to load, is that normal? It could just be my "rural" connection or old laptop....perhaps even both!

If you don't mind I will take you up on the offer of adding you as any contact help will be greatly appreciated! :)

(Happy Letchworth anniversary for next week!)

Hi there, so sorry to drag this thread up again but I am the same - moving up to letchworth and hoping to bring my mare with me. Due to work I need livery services, but as close to 24/7 grazing as possible and outdoor boxes (rather than barn). I've posted in the Herts fb page but it's so popular now I think my post had got lost already with no replies. Any advice/help hugely greatly appreciated!!! I'm looking for something relatively peaceful as she's an old girl now and ideally direct access to good hacking......... But all options considered as I want to make sure I find the right place (she's been at her current yard 10 years). Thank you!

Hiya Bimblewick!

I ended up finding a place in a village called Preston which is about 15 mins drive away from home. This is purely grazing though and DIY so def not suitable for what you're looking for. Feel free to add me on Facebook and I would be happy to introduce you to the people I have connected with so far. Everyone has been incredibly friendly and helpful!

Have you tried looking on www.*******.co.uk too? They may have a good list for assisted liveries!?

Fingers crossed finding somewhere for you and your mare!

Have you tried Chesfield Manor Stables? Very good facilities and the girls that run it are very knowledgeable. I don't know if they do 24/7 turnout though.
I grew up in the area and would move back like a shot!

Ooh thank you for that - somehow that one escaped me so have left them a message :0). Thanks for your help, nice to hear so many good things about Letchworth too!
