Hi there,

Does anyone know of any good livery yards in Ruislip, Uxbridge area? Close to good hacking. Ive heard of Ashby farm but I can't find a contact number anywhere....since horse house it seems!

Help!! X

There's Littlebourne Farm in Harefield which is fairly close to Ruislip woods so lots of hacking there and there's Goulds Green in Hillingdon which is next to Stockley Park so hacking there, although its supposidly no cantering (There are stretches were you can't be seen though!). I can't comment on whether the livery yards are good or not as I've never used them in that way. I haven't been to Littlebourne Farm for a long time but it always seemed clean and well run. Goulds Green is quite small. I rode at the riding school at Goulds Green and it was okay but at the time could have been better managed.

Hope this helps!

There are plenty of livery yards in the area, you just need to know where to find them! There's Abbeyfields down Charville Lane, which is a small, quiet yard with access to a bridle way network. On Pole Hill Road there is a small livery yard called Lowdham Lodge. There is also Goulds Green, Littlebourne Farm (which, I believe is the largest yard in the area) and Jack's in Ruislip, but I don't know much about it.

I'm not sure that Manor Farm is a livery yard? I've seen 2 or 3 horses in the field there, but there is very little, if any, hacking around there and I've never seen these horses being ridden on the road.

theres ivy house farm in new denham (uxbridge)

loads of little places around denham, i think isle of wight farm does livery.
theres a place just off the A40 at the polish war memorial towards Greenford/ White horse rounderbout.

OMG is Jack's still going????

That's my old stomping ground. I used to keep my ponies in the field right next door to his place during the summer. Right miserable old git he was too :D

Our yard was up by Northwood Hills, a small holding in the allotments there. We didn't have much grazing so used to use to walk (or rather ride the horses bareback) down to the field by Ruislip Lido woods for summer turnout.

And Abbeyfield's must be the old Charville Riding School, is it? That's where I bought my first UK pony from, back in 1977, from the riding school there.

I was at Mick Jupp's at Gould's Green too, when I was about 11. Before my parents bought the yard in Northwood Hills.

Yes, Jack's is still there, but from what I have heard they are no longer offering lessons, just hacks and livery. As for Abbeyfield's, it has changed hands a few times so it may be the old Charville Riding School. There are lots of smaller yards too.

yes jack's is still running! though they have changed their name now, its Ruislip Park stables. No more lessons sadly, wasnt fair on the horses, they were working too hard. Its a small but very friendly stables. But they still do pony rides & possibly livery if you phone up. Still do amazing hacks all year round aswell!

I am looking for a yard in middlesex too, in the hampton/feltham/whitton/twickenham area ... does anyone know anywhere?
Would consider riding school, livery yard, field anything!
HELP :)

Just to clear something up! Abbeyfields Equestrian Centre has not changed hands on a several occasions. It was formally Charville Riding School and since was sold and changed to Abbeyfields. From that point over 20yrs ago has stayed with the same owners!!
