I've just had an offer accepted on a house and am soo excited! But it means my boy will have to move and a lot of yards wont suit me due to my physical limitations. Soo, I'll hopefully (fingers, toes and internal organs crossed!!) be looking for a new yard. Ideally grass livery where he can be checked once a day, unless its close to Buckingham Fields, which is where my hopefully new house is!

I dont want him out alone in a tiny field, and would prefer him out on a big field with company. Grass livery isnt essential, I would be fine if he had to come in overnight in the winter, but would definitely need services to turn out on a morning. Ideally I'd like a school, but I could live without, and I'd take good hacking over an amazing school. Must have somewhere to store my tack!

I struggle with walking and the one thing I hate about my current yard is the walk to and from the field, but I do it now, so I could continue to. I couldnt manage a long walk pushing a wheel barrow so if its miles to the fields I would need poo picking to be done for me.

Theres probably more things I like and things I could compromise on. I'm currently in MK so have no idea about livery in Northampton, so any suggestions would be brilliant! And if anyone knows who owns the yard behind the houses in Buckingham Fields I'd love to know, as I would put up with an awful lot to have my boy at a yard that backs on to my house

Do you mean the Buckingham Fields in the Danes Camp area? If not I'm not sure where you are!
Is it worth a visit to the yard itself or leaving a little note up there with your number if you don't see anyone?

Also check out Welland Valley feeds (website), Bletsoe Brown (jane butt in sywell) and Blue barn in Hardingstone. They always have livery yards advertised on their notice boards. I only really know yards out in the villages near me so I'm not much help there sorry! But also welcome to northampton!!

I have no idea  I really dont know the area at all. Its NN4 if that helps?

I'm going to go for a drive round tomorrow afternoon and get to know the area a bit. Having had chance to look into it more, even if this house falls through, this is the area we will be moving to. It seems so much better than Milton Keynes for yards!

Anyone?

We had a drive round last weekend but I really dont know the area at all. Buckingham Fields is just of Danes Camp road, so I have learnt something  I'm viewing Kislingbury Grange tomorrow, and am going to call into Allwroks riding school as its less than 2 miles from my potential new house. Anyone know either of them?

No one?? Would this be better in the regional boards? If so which one, because I cant work out for the life of me whereabouts Northampton falls

You could try Cranford, amazing yard run by a chap called Tony, he also does lessons and clipping. It is near Cranford hall. It has a school and all year round turnout but horses are usually in at night, turnout, bring in, are extras

Cranford Hall is 25 miles away sadly. I'm hoping for less than 5 miles as the new house is on the outskirts, and its pretty rural once you get out of the town :)

Hi- I keep my horse in blisworth - where there are several yards.. There's also great hacking. There's also yards at gayton, hartwell, Ashton ...

All works is on the edge of dual carriageway and I would imagine will limit the hacking options and there have been discussions previously about them loosing there land- it's also a riding school so don't know if that's a consideration as may make using the school an issue.

Kislingbury grange - if it's where I think it is the access road is a reasonably fast bendy lane that wouldn't b my first choice for riding on and I'm not sure it has a school

There's also salcey ridings on the edge of salcey forest... Mk event center at hanslope if you want better facilities

I'd suggest popping into Collins pet foods in hardingstone for a look on the ads board :)

Try talking to a lovely lady called Sharron at Ashton Lodge Farm. I had my horses there for just over a year and would still be there had I not have had a fantastic offer of my own yard. We had 24.7 turn out over summer and turnout all winter in big winter fields. Great bunch of people and sharron really did treat them as her own are treated. There is a school recently redone and the best hackig.

incidentally I live 2 seconds from you in West Hunsbury, hello new neighbour!

Got your message BK, I'll give her a ring :) The Kislingbury yard is nice and would suit me, but its £35 a week for DIY and no school, hacking seems good and YO was lovely. But the riding school I looked at, had 2 schools, assisted, people living on site etc and surprisingly had lots and lots of off road hacking and was only £108 PCM. No spaces and maybe not for me, but at least I've actually seen some places now.

Theres no rush, the house could take months to go through, or even worse fall through, in which case I'm shelving house buying for 6 months and renting somewhere in Northampton. I found the tack shop as well! It will be time for another trip next weekend. If nothing else we are getting to know the area which is sooo much nicer than I thought!

I went to Collins and there were a few up. Most the wrong side of Northampton, I think Brampton Grange looked ok distance wise, so got more to look at next weekend :)

I'm NN3 and our lovely (but not sparkly) yard is full at the moment. You could try putting your name down though? I'll PM you what to avoid but will have to do it on my laptop later. Some good options round here, so you'll find something xx
