I'm moving to Northern Ireland from Scotland in the next couple of months and am looking for a yard for my two horses.
Ideally I would be looking for somewhere with all year well fenced turnout (24/7 in the summer), an all weather arena, good hacking and generally a nice friendly yard. We'll probably be based in the North Down area.

Most of hacking in NI is road hacking, unless you get lucky and are close to pne of the forest parks :)

all weather arenas are hard to come by here :p would you prefer private livery yard or riding school type?
Ps. When you say north down ie. Bangor/newtonards direction? :)

Same kind of topic so i'll post in this thread, does anyone know which stables has access to the best/longest off road hacking within 30 mins of Belfast?

Places I know of with off road hacking:
Burn (how long is their longest hack?)
Craigantlet House - 4.5km
Lusks (how long?)

Anywhere else?

Hi, are you still looking for a livery yard? I know of a new one opening in Hillsborough. New American Style Barn, kitchen, toilets and shower room facilities. 12x12 stables with automatic drinkers. 60x40 flood lit sand school and a 2km off road ride, all year turn out.
let me know if your interested. :)

Hi there, sorry for dredging up an old thread *blush*

I'm looking for something similar to the OP, but I was hoping to find a DIY place for one horse, somewhere in the Bangor/Newtownards area. I've contacted a few of the larger places (Heathview, Gransha, Blossom Hill) and they don't seem to have any current vacancies.

Does anyone know of anywhere else? Private yards perhaps? Still newish to the area and trying to find my way around.

Thank you, and hi Horse and Hound forum! :)

Check out the livery section on Horseabout.com/Belfast:)Think there are one or two private yards with space at the moment. Also ask around the feed merchants - George Shanks in Ards have a notice board.

Welcome to the forum!

Hi,
Fairmount Stables in Hillsborough (close to Lisburn & Sprucefield) is a newly opened private yard with stables available at the moment.

They have an all-weather outdoor, an indoor, a walker, kitchen, toilet & washbay.

You probably already have somewhere sorted, but they are worth a look at nonetheless!

Good luck!! :)
