Hi Peeps! Due to a massive commute to my current (and very lovely) yard, I am considering moving my horse closer to home. I'd be looking for Assisted DIY - boyf and I can manage daily feeds and muckouts, we'd just need am and pm feeds and haynets put in. I'd like a decent manege, access to jumps, nice hacking, and most importantly, welcoming and friendly liveries with a sense of humour!

I live in North Luffenham and I'd like to keep to a 20 minute commute (approx)

Any ideas?

I think you are going to struggle round there - may have to commute a bit further or compromise on what you want.

A lot of the yards over there are 'private' yards with a few liveries some with schools some not. There are some bridleways but mostly roadwork - unless you get over to Wakerley woods. There is a yard at Ayston, not sure if Richard Jones (S Luffenham) takes liveries otherwise there is the riding school in Harringworth, the yard in Ketton (by Cross Country) and Lyddington. Has been a while since I have had a horse over that side of the water!

Look in SAPS and Buttercup feeds in Oakham.

SAPS is at the end of Oakham High Street by the railway, Buttercup feeds is in Pillings Lane - both are feed merchants and have ads for livery etc

Harringworth Stables is on the edge of Wakerley Woods which is the best off road hacking - did use to be fairly restrictive in terms of livery but may have changed.

There is also a SAPS in Stamford which will have different ads from the Oakham branch.

Milners is too far away from you so rarely advertises anything in that part of Rutland. Look on the Cottesmore hunt website and Welland Valley Feeds.
