Can anyone reccomend a good yard in surrey, with school, good hacking, and clinics or regular trips to competitions ( i dont have own transport).

The catch is I would like DIY or 5 day part. Close to m25 junc 10/11.

Has any one had experience of being based at comp venue eg pachesham?

Seperate mares ad geldings would be a benefit as mare can be a bit moody!

Thanks

Ive been at Pac, was ace but just lacked in the hacking(quite a bit of roadwork)

My yard will prob do 5 day part, we got 2 schools, an SJ trainer down the road and tbf I will prob hack to pac from there!

Just PM if u want to ask any Qs

Ebbisham would have been good but think it's closing down...how about looking in Headley as there is quite a few shows aorund that way.

We are at Thundry Farm in Elstead, website is www.thundry.co.uk. Hacking is great, good facilities and regular training with Corinne Bracken (SJ) and Lizzie Murray (dressage). YO also does clinics and competes herself so is able to provide transport.

Great Bookham EC (www.gbec.info) is slightly further off the M25, but does DIY/part/full and is a show centre with fab hacking. I was on the waiting list for DIY, but there may be spaces for part (found somewhere lovely for me nearby though anyway)

They run lots of shows and have instructors on site - 3 sets of SJs, 1 indoor arena, 2 outdoor, all year grazing (24/7 in summer) individual turnout, mini XC course, no roadwork... plus from there, if you don't mind a bit of roadwork, you can hack to Bookham RC, or Pachesham... and the tiny show centre at Longacres. Or if you don't mind hacking for a while, you can get to Newlands Corner RC.

It's a big and busy yard, so I'm sure there are plenty of people with spaces on their lorries too.
Don't think it's cheap, but have met some people who are v happy there.

Problem with Pachesham is that the horses have to come in when there is an event on - I would find that hard to work around. There are some other yards around there where you could hack to Pachesham with a bit of roadwork though (Lodge Liveries, Woodlands Farm, Brook Willow...)

There are also some yards very close to the Mid Surrey PC field, in walton on the hill, although not sure if any do 5 day part... certainly no cheap DIY yards around there at any rate!

Hi, I used to be stabled in Epsom and Headley. You could try Tumber Lodge which has hacking on headley heath and epsom downs. They have a sand school, seperate mare/gelding turnout and do DIY/Part/Full livery. The local riding club used to run clinics across the road in a private yard with indoor and outdoor arena. From what i remember there used to be lots of lorries and trailers so im sure you could catch a lift to go further a field. Think they have a website now as well with prices etc on it.
There was also a nice yard called Hallega further along but they only do part and full livery and i think there was always a waiting list.
PM me if you need any more info.
