i'm not sure what to do and would welcome any advice - I'm on full livery due to work commitments and am having problems with YO asking other people to bring my horse in every day, he's not in any way silly so there is no reason. It usually falls to one person who is happy to do it , dont want to ask them not as looks like i have problem with them and they'd be really hurt but feel guilty about taking advantage of them also I am paying for full livery and feel it should responsibility of yard owner same person also poo picks shared field, when i queried this i was told full liveries need to do their own poo picking. Shouldnt this be included ? really dont want to cause problems as am rubbish at confrontation but it's really getting to me. I hate being on full livery but work 12 hour days and already get up at half 5 and get home at half seven most days just about squeezing in 3 days riding a week !

It may be that the person doing your horse is getting a slightly reduced livery bill for doing a few of the YOs jobs for them.

Pooh picking is not necessarily included, its entirely dependent on your contract. There is no standard so everyones responsibilities will differ from yard to yard.

I would interpret full livery as meaning you only ever have to turn up and pat your horse once in a while if you so wish. Everything else (apart from riding) would be included. So that definately includes poo picking.

How much are you paying for this service??

What happens if your horse is injured whilst being handled by this other person - or the person themselves is injured? Does your YO indemnity cover this??

I am afraid that if you want the 'getting in' issue resolved you will have to speak to the YO. Perhaps approach person bringing your horse in first and try to get some info as to what is going on there between them and YO........?

Poo picking - Personally I would not want a full livery arrangement without a contract first. I would have gone over it in detail before signing to make sure everything I could think of at the time was covered. Do you have a contract? Take a look if you do.......

I would not expect to have to poo pick on full livery TBH.

I would also expect poo picking to be part of full livery, but this is something I would have discussed before taking up the stable as it is difficult to re-negotiate at this stage.

As for someone else bringing in your horse I think this is not acceptable. You pay for a service by a professional who, presumably, has insurance against negligence which injures your horse or themselves being injured by your horse - is this other person covered by any of this? Probably not, which makes this potentially a very difficult situation.

I'd move to a yard which employs regular competent staff and includes poo picking in full livery. This sounds more like a DIY yard which is struggling to provide a full livery service. If you are paying for full livery, you might as well have it.
