Hey, just wondering if anyone knows of anywhere i could keep my horse near Camden? Have been offered a place at RVC and if i get the grades will hopefully be going in September. It doesn't have to be in Camden as long as they have working livery or grazing all year round? I could do him on weekends just not in the week! Any ideas?

I'm not aware of anywhere that has all-year turn-out in central London (something to do with the definition of city being "a place without too many fields"!). However, if you head up the Northern Line to Barnet, which is only about 30 mins on the tube, there are quite a few yards out that way. LEC (London Equestrian centre) does working livery IIRC, and that is about 10 mins from Mill Hill East tube

Camden is very, very central. I know it well! You won't get anywhere with turnout all year in London. There is a yard in Ealing (rode there once, not very good, think they did have some fields), Mudchute in Docklands (think they have some fields), Lea Valley (does have turnout, possibly not all year). Then there is Wimbledon Village Stables which is lovely, does working livery but has no turnout. And is pricey.

TBH livery in central London (central as in some of the places I mentioned) is SERIOUSLY expensive - think a grand a month - places are seriously limited (they will have waiting lists) and you simply won't get turnout. You'd be much better off looking at a yard outside London with good links into central London by train. Hertfordshire is your best bet if you want to get into North London, also possibly look into the London/Essex borders, which is covered by the Eastern end of the central line.

Good luck!

Hi,

I know the area well - there is no real livery close to the RVC, except for Kentish Town City Farm which occasionaly takes working liveries of suitable mounts, but no turn-out. Nearer the other RVC campus (South Mimms) there are lots of yards! Not sure if you will have a car, but there are a range of yards accessible on public transport in the Mill Hill and Barnet areas (nothern line straight from Camden, about 20 mins) - try London Equestrian Centre, Frith Manor, Mote End Farm, Arkley View Stables, Bury Farm (Edgware) - depending on what you want - all are a short bus ride/15 minute walk from the tube. If you have a car, you can always consider Patchetts, or one of the various yards around Radlett/Borehamwood - Wilde Farm, Houndwood, Netherwilde, Hill Farm, South Medburn, Strangeways (all within a 30 min drive). Most have websites. Message me for more info if you want! Good luck
