OK. YO has house on sale so we will, at some point have to move the horses. There has been a lot of interest in the house but, sadly no one horsey (prob too expensive for horsey people). Such a shame as it is a lovely yard.

Anyway, Livery yards around this area are few and far between. There is one I have in mind but have not yet contacted them.

Other poss is to find land to buy/rent, but this also is a lot harder than I first thougt.

So, to my query, has anyone got more than 1 horse that are kept at different yards?

Ideally, I want 24/7 grass livery for the 2 girls BUT I need a school for me. Not quite sure if, having 3 horses, in 2 different places is workable so just wondered, if anyone did this?

Ash lives in Moulton and Joe, the horse i ride, lives in the next village approx. 2miles. I only visit each once a day (afternoons), and friends see to them in the morns.
At times its a bit of a pain - usually when i've been nattering a one yard too long

but on the whole it isn't a problem BUT i don't have children, or many other responsibilities!!

I am in the same situation as you but I only have 1 horse. YO is selling up but so far hasnt had anyone buy. There have been lots interested, some horsey some not. I really dont want to move so am waiting until someone has agreed to buy before I start looking for another yard. You never know whos going to buy and even when they do you will have plenty of time to look for another yard if you need to.
Try not to worry too much.

im about to do this.the yard we are on is fantastic in the summer with 24/7 turnout and loads of grazing, good hacking etc but in the winter its a mud bath, there is no drain under the tap so all the water runs directly into the field and the menage is unusable all winter amongst other things
i am moving our horse back to an old livery yard i was on as it has a decent menage and no mud all over the yard! the difference between the yards is 7 miles and i live in the middle of them. plan is to let one out in the mornings mon wed & fri and friend will let her out tue and thurs and my little ones go to a nursery right next to the other yard so can do the horse when i take them etc ...if it doesnt work i have the option to move the two ponies to the other yard as well. it will certainly make for a lot of running around but will have to see how it goes!

Yeh, I am going to stay put as long as poss. I dont want to leave, I like it there.

My dad thought about buying it but at £900,000, it needed too muc work doing to it. Its a shame they wont sell the yard off seperately as we could have just bought that!

hmmm, so far, the people who have been to see it have ad some interesting ideas!

One wanted to knock the whole stable block down and use all the land to make a pretty garden, another wanted to turn the stables into a private library (WTF)!

I had 2 ponies separate yards, but only round a couple of corners from each other. It was still a real pain and I ended up feeling neither was getting enough attention.

I am sure this is not what you want to hear....

well Bloss might go to Essex, does that count?

Seriously tho, i think you might find it hard work with 2 in one place and V somewhere else. However if said yards/field were near each other, ie 5/10min drive, it might not be too bad....

Have you suggested it as the yard & land may put off none horsey people? They may be able to sell the house better without it?

No, actually, we havent mentioned it, never really thought about it. Ill look into it!
