Just been contacted about a job in the area. Not sure if I’ll consider it as would probably mean relocation. My boy is 24 as well.

Just wondering what livery is like there, ideally small quiet yard but he has been on every type of yard going, we just hack now though so places to hack v important … tbst said I am contemplating horse number 2

What are livery costs like for assisted DIY to FL? I would prefer assisted

Hacking around Exeter is not brilliant, you’d want to be on the eastern side of the city - Woodbury Common / Broadclyst way.
I paid £135 pw for full livery (not inc riding) and there were a few stealth charges so in reality it was more than that. I was the otherside and hacking was poor, mainly roads with the odd bridlepath that didn’t go any where

Ouch that doesn’t sound great! I was hoping for not too far from the beach, or even Dartmoor, and at the least some decent fields to go for a blast in??

Dartmoor would be around min of 30 mins from Junction 31 M5 depending on what you are driving and where you wanted to go.
People ride on Exmouth Beach but most I know will box from somewhere else.
I forgot in my first response there is also Halden Forest just off the A38 near the racecourse. There’s a few yards that way but from what friends have said it’s fairly unrideable in the school holidays and weekends as it’s mixed use.

I think it depends where in Exeter you are. Rollestone is about 10 minutes from the city centre and has great hacking! Not sure what their prices are, but I've always been DIY and prices have varied from £65 per horse to £135 per month. I believe full livery varies from around £400 to £600 depending on what is included.

I have no idea if this is a good livery yard or not however I am posting it because of the location. We often see people out hacking from here going up to Haldon forest. They are right it is only 10 mins from Exeter and there are many forestry tracks. Plenty of room to ride, avoid the obvious bike tracks on a week end but no problem finding lots of riding. There are quite a few deer.

without transport or an endurance horse I think you would be hard pressed to livery close to Exeter and ride on Dartmoor.

Broadclyst area has great hacking, very close to the Ashclyst forest, don't seem to see the push bikers up in the forest, lots of nice round robin tracks, close to the M5 and competition centres.
