Livery prices WWYD

Personally I don't think the fact he was on working livery changes things particularly, presumably the OP paid less livery whilst he was on working livery so his work effectively made up the shortfall from the normal livery price and doesn't mean he should be treated differently from other liveries now. I also think £3 is reasonable for 15 mins hand walking and wouldn't have expected that as a favour from the yard, I've been injured this summer and unable to get to the yard as much as I would like so have had to pay for extras accordingly despite being good friends with YM - its a business after all and I don't begrudge paying her for her time.

I think the point is that he was injured while on working livery, has now been retired from school work, that the RS has benefited from having a horse to use with no outlay and all expenses covered yet the minute he is no longer of use to them they no longer have any real interest in his well being, turning him loose in the school rather than walking him being careless at least, negligent at worst, a horse that has earned his keep for many years deserves some loyalty.
I do think the OP should pay as the charge is reasonable but I can understand her resenting doing so, working livery can work well but it is a tough life for the horse, they may well get injured and handed back to the owner when they are no longer able to work, it is often only a small saving financially for the owner but can be a real benefit for the RS who can use a horse they don't have to buy until it is no longer useful, they don't have the vets fees or disposal costs, if it goes seriously wrong, to worry about they just hand it back and wipe their hands of the problem.

Nina, I'm Northampton and dont know if I've replied to your posts or not, probably, but I know 3 yards with spaces at the minute. Theres a new yard opening tomorrow that has 18 boxes to fill so they definitely have space. I can also tell you a few yards to avoid at all costs. A lot of people seem to be moving at the minute, but that means they are leaving spaces where they came from :)

Quite, he broke while on working livery, they said they don't want him anymore so all of the costs are then down to the owner/the owners livery bill goes up and she gets all the responsibility for rehab and then they don't even do what they are asked to - which frankly the should have known that any horse with the sort of issue the OPs now has doesn't just get turned out in the school when it is on box rest! That could have been catastrophic and undone all the hard work.

OP to pm are you on computer or phone, it is always tricky off a phone.
On computer go to 'settings' in the top right corner. Then on the top left hand side there is a bit that says message and send new message.

OR

Click on the persons name on this thread on the left hand side and several options come up, including send message to user.

Frankie where is the new one opening? I'm not actually in Northampton anymore which is most of the problem. But I'll poss look at yards in Northampton but full livery.

Ester thanks. I'm on a phone but will give it a go and switch if need be.

I think there has probably been a bit of miscommunication. If they said they would do the in hand walking as a favour they may have meant it was not a service they normally offer but would do if for you, not that they would do it for free. I would not expect a commercial yard like a RS to be doing anything for free unless they felt it would benefit them (eg if they thought they could get the back in work more quickly making money for the RS)

I am sorry to hear about your redundancy. Did you employers know you were pregnant? Employers have to be very careful with regard to making pregnant women redundant so I hope if they did know that they have treated you fairly and not discriminated against you.

Absolutely beautiful! I was really taken with it, but at £65 a week just for DIY I cant justify it for mine. Full livery is £140 I think
