I am looking into the fees for my planned livery yard. Could you let me know if the fees sound about right for my area Wiltshire. I was thinking the following......
- grass livery- £35pw to include daily checks bringing in for farrier/vet and hay when necessary.
- part livery - £65pw for 5 day week to include hay/straw/basic concentrates, muck out, turn out/in, pick feet, groom
- full livery- £95pw as part livery but exercsing included and for a 7 day week
- hunter livery - £120pw as full livery but preperation for hunt included
- DIY - £35pw to include hay and straw

Thanks

There appears to be a couple of discrepancies over your prices.
Grass Livery is the same price as DIY & presumably with DIY you get a stable. The DIY price to include bedding & hay doesn't seem too bad a price but the Grass Livery seems too expensive in comparison for what you get. I would be tempted to reduce the cost of Grass Livery but charge extra for bringing in for vet/farrier etc.

Part Livery at £65, for 5 days....but £95 for full Livery for 7 days to include everything in Part Livery but it includes exercising. So in effect a full time Livery is paying you only £4 per week for exercising their horse? (£65 ~ 5 days = £13 per day, £13 daily rate x 7 days = £91)

I think you may need to reconsider your prices a little as the reasoning behind them appears ill conceived.

I would be inclinded to agree with toby_zaphod. Some of the prices seem reasonable and some seem abit over priced. The main one is the grass livery, not sure where in the world you are but here in the midlands grazing is about £10-£15 a week. I pay £30 a week for a 6 acre field (regardless if amount of horses on it) with 36' x 12' shelter and a farmer that does anything you ask. Sorry but i certainly wouldn't pay that! DIY with a stable and hay etc seems good though.

I agree with Toby_Zaphod. The difference between part livery for 5 days and full for 7 including exercise didnt look right. T-Z's has done the maths though to demonstrate the point.

Have you asked around locally as to what other yards charge? This will give you a good idea as to what the market will bear and you can then sit down and do the sums.

I think the grass livery is about right since its not just grass livery, but part livery on grass. Since the horse is checked every day, brought in a handled for farrier/vet etc and hayed when necassary, the owner wouldn't have to worry about getting down other than to ride and when they want to.
