Livery stealing my feed!!

"DE JA VUE" People on here told me i was wrong to accuse a livery of taking feed but have since been proven right. if you know who it is then confront them outright if not leave a message "I Know you are taking my feed":(
 
I would get a dead chest feezer as a feed store - then lock it.

You say the girl is young, how young is she? If you are certain of your facts, then you could have a word with her parents.
I think I would secure my feed as a first port of call.
 
Forget alarms, silly signs saying you're on camera (when there is no camera), mouse traps etc as this will not solve your problem. You should either keep your feed at home, bringing what you need to yard each day or padlock your feedbin.

You don't need fancy expensive galvanisted bins. An old chest freezer had been mentioned, they are invariably free, plenty big enough for all feed & easy to fit a hasp & padlock to. You can use dustbins ( plastic or galvanised) & run a chain through the side handle, across the top through that handle & then through other side handle. Secure with a padlock & it's sorted. The above will also be rat & mouse proof as well. :)

I know exactly who it is. She knows I know. The YO knows all about it. All the other liveries know all about it. She doesn't care that everyone knows and that shes not allowed it. She just keeps taking when theres noone there to stop her.

We used to share feed bins (due to lack of space) - both buy the same amount of the same feeds at the same time, horses get fed the same. It worked out OK for the first couple of months. And basically ended up in me paying to feed her horse... I told her I would be keeping my feed seperate and that she was not to use it. Her feed bins have been empty for a week now (I'm nosy and have been checking!!;))

I haven't been to the yard in two days, my sharer has been doing him. Went this morning to sort him out - THREE QUARTERS OF A BAG OF C&C has gone!!! Disappeared into thin air!!! Or into her horses belly!!! :rolleyes: ....I swiftly put all my feed in my car boot. It will stay there until I sort something out.
 
I had a normal galvanised dustbin, chain through handle of bin, round handle of lid and through handle of opposite side of bin, 2 small padlocks for each bin handle and the lid is not going to come off. Light, cheap, mouseproof and easy to stick in the back of the car and move to sweep up when the feed gets lower.

Personally, I'd bag it up, otherwise, you can leave a note in there saying that you know she is stealing your feed and that she is being watched...you can actually be as nice, or as nasty as you like about it, if she IS stealing she isn't going to say anything, if she isn't then she'll never know.;)

You can get little helmet cams on eBay for about £15 that are sound activated, I would get one of those and film the culprit then go to YO
 
A while ago I was on a yard where everyone got on really well. A new livery arrived and within a few months feed and then eventually rugs/tack started to go missing! Everyone knew there were cameras at the yard but the guilty party got carried away and didnt notice that a new camera had been installed! They were caught on camera stealing all sorts including the YO's equipment and feed not a wise move! This followed with the guilty party being removed from the yard by the police - luckily all our items were recovered! Would def say if possible have cameras - awful to feel geniune people are being watched but its the only way to deter and in some cases catch a thief!
 
A dusbin win the two flip up handles that keep the lid on, I used to chain and padlock the handles shut pretty good security at a fraction of the galvanised type.
