Livery Yard Conspiracy Theories

I would NEVER EVER go back to livery again. I am in my own little paradise now and would never go back even if it meant me not owning a horse. There is no point to having a horse if youre gunna be misearble and trust me these people can make you miserable

My worst livery story story is when the YO and her husband staged a break in and stole all of our tack. We liveries had strong suspicions that it was them as they were a very light fingered pair. (he had been to prison although YO pretended he was working abroad, but we all secretly knew)

Anyway we had our strong suspicions but it was well staged and planned. Also we kind of didn't think they would steal off us!

The police however obviously had their suspicions and raided the YO mums house and found a load of our tack.

There then followed a farcical situation where us liveries had to pretend we didn't know to give us time to look for alternative stabling for our horses

It was a nightmare and really worrying as we were all panicing they would take our horses

It even went further, one livery moved her horses to her house which was nearby and they broke into her stables and nicked all her new tack again (they were captured on the hidden camera that had been installed.

They subsequently sold up and moved to Devon (poor Devon horse owners!)

You see the best and worst in people on livery yards - luckily I'm on a lovely one now. My advice to anyone who is suffering is move now! Life's too short.

I've on a lovely yard now, but after we handed in our notice at the old yard one of the other liveries kept being really nasty about new yard. Most of it was obviously untrue but as we were leaving she said you'll have to get a new farrier as X had told her he had been banned from that yard . Now I was pretty sure it was a lie but I asked new YO if she had a problem with X coming to the yard & she looked at me blankly & said no. So I phoned X & left a message that A had told me what had happened but YO had no problem with him coming to yard & I wanted to use him still providing he was happy. Got a phone call half an hour later asking what on earth I was on about!

i'm sure that this was very traumatic at the time but its quite amusing that you had to pretend that you didn't know

I have some very fond and happy memories of the yard I was on for for years.

We had a great social time - riding out together - going to the pub after rides, the pub crawls and all the shows we went to together. There was only one person there that was not so nice - she put down others behind there backs, stole our equipment and was generally not nice and as the saying goes 'What goes around comes around' she was riding out one day and the horse reared as she was coming back up the drive, she fell off and hurt her back - meant she was off work for several months! Felt awful that I was so pleased that she wasn't there to upset everyone.
