Now I've always kept horses on private places so any tips and ideas? I want to get on with every body to start with! I want them like my horsey too *Might even wash his tail so he doesn't look like it hasn't been touched for months... Which it hasn't

* Oh and he is to be turned out with one or two others in a few acea paddock which changes weekly *so poo picking must be done once a week* How do you pick up poo when turned out with others?

LOL, im moving too on Saturday. Just remember to clear your poo out the school, just be nice and friendly and im sure there'll love you. Good luck.

my horse shares with 5 other geldings and poo picking wise we say a horse probably averages one wheelbarrow of poo per 24 hours so in a week i will clear 7 barrow worths, maybe you could do something like that or see if the two that already share have a system in place.
as RLF says just be nice and friendly, you will soon work out who is who personality wise etc. good luck with it, i am moving one of mine soon

smile and be friendly!although you may feel anything but at the time. um, in the summer i poo pick everyday in a field of 4..gets me two wheelies out so thats 1/2 a wheelie a day each, when theyre out 24/7 so by this v. mathematical formula im thinking take a wheelie-full out each week?
lol the wonders of poo-picking.
Whats this yard got compared to your old one?Ive just moved too!

Well my horse be out from 7:15am too 4pm So probs have small wheel borrow load? I don't know what happens atm but poo picking every other day sounds fair to me.

I poo pick every night, groom every night... I moved last Saturday but I've spent my time looking to make life easy. Have a secure area where you can keep your field kit, strip graze as necessary, take time to inspect existing fencing and repair as necessary, dig out ragwort and de-stone, and get stuck into a routine. I've gone the extra mile and shall have flood lighting rigged to a generator so I can wander around at my leisure, also keep a tool kit with you for unknown emergencies - worry about folks on the yard second to worrying about your horse settling in. The first week we walked on a long rein everywhere so she got use to other horses, sights etc. I got straight back onto her and kept her exercised (though she won't be ridden this week as I've been busy building those secure housings etc). Keep your standards high and you'll be fine, if it looks like mess clear it away get on top of things and get ordered - hard work, good luck

He's still a baby so even tho my face lit up when the words gallops and jumps fell from his month... I'll be lucky! Still I can RIDE, and lung and loose school!! Planning to really get on with it even if is just a walk and hault to start with... Also off road hacking will be brillant for the baby

Keep a tool kit handy breezy, whatever for, what do you think dads and husbands are for, They should be kept handy not toolkits.

Just make sure you always clear up jumps and poo's out the school, be nice to people, remember doing a favour once may mean they will do favours for you

good luck sure they will love you
