i keep my 3 horses at a livery yard very close to me but we have to use a genorator for electric and tonight it wouldnt start so i had to do everything in the dark!

its only small (4 stables) we have a nice arena and get hay in with our livery prise (in winter) we have as much turnout as poss on good grazing but it does my head in!!!!

i pay £20 per horse per week for stable, field and arena and hay in winter - yeah its cheap but otherwise we only have a small lean to to keep straw n feed in.

should i stop being petty and enjoy the fact im on a private yard, no bitching and cheap or try and find a more expensive yard , with more facilities and a social life?

currently i go do my horses n leave, i cant ride cos its dark and on weekends i frankly dont fancy riding on main roads to get to the bridleways .....alone (my hubby decided hes a summer rider!)

obviously id prefer to not spend loads of money! lol

oh, and my horses are a 16yr old WB (who frankly needs work), a 5yr odl sec D, and a rising 3yr old (not broken of course)
im selling the sec D as soon as hes better schooled etc - so the move could speed up this process instead of waiting for light nights to school

hey i no you said must be diy but know off a really nice yard about 15 min from penistone which does full livery for just 65 a week, it has all year turnout, lovely deep shavings beds, unlimited haylage, beautiful off road hacking. It hasnt got an areana but a big flat field which is very well drained with jumps and lights. Just wondered if this would be an option as when i moved from diy to full i actually found that it worked out cheaper as i didnt have all those little bits to buy on top, hope this helps PM if you want any more details:)

Would it be possible to get transport and go to the various competitions/training sessions or just hire the indoor at Bromley Farm? I'd be staying put at the private yard if I could but look at getting out and about a bit more to get the best of both worlds.

There used to be a yard down the road from Becky and Hannah Moddy's in Pensitone - not sure if it's still there? Also, what about the one near Throstle's Nest, I think it's sometimes used as a competition yard?

Sorry don't know names of either of them
