This is a DESPERATE search.

For the last three years I've had my two boys with me in Uni at Newcastle. But, in September I'm off to Liverpool for vet med - and I can't find anywhere there to keep them!

The problem is I absolutely need grass livery... my horse has not been stabled ever (excluding two injuries,) and my little dartmoor hasn't been stabled in six years. Neither take to stabling very well...

Anyone know of any good yards? I would like a school (outdoor is fine,) and a tack room with space available for a saddle and a bridle, at a push I'd love rug storage, but not neccesary. The grass should be of a good quality: they hadn't had hard feed in three years and it's much more convenient if they can live off the land!

Please, please drop me some info if you know of any places - getting stressed out!

1) good luck with the studies.
2) liverpool is a great city to be based
3) refreshing to hear that you keep your horses on grass with no hard feed
4) have you looked out towards the formby/southport area - i know there are a few yards out in that area although i couldnt give you anything more specific. If you dont know the area to give you an idea i used to live in southport and work in liverpool - about an half hour drive on ok roads. also for riding you have the beach - about 7 miles of sand - Ginger Rogers used to train Red Rum there. good luck in your search.

Im a scouser born and bred and I will say good luck with the search. There are not many yards in Liverpool at all and even less that will offer 24/7 turnout with a school on site. I would recommend looking more Warrington/Formby areas, not far to travel by car and you will get much more choice

Yer im based in knowsley and actually i could list a fair few yards by us that have 24/7 turnout at the moment but as soon as the weather changes its stabled at night delph farm just behind us off School lane in knowsley is 24 hr at the min not got a phone number tho sorry. Try merseyhorse.com

Hi there! If you like newcastle you will love liverpool, its such a fun city!

As far as yards go if my memory serves me right i think Burrows Lane does grass livery, plus they have a couple of schools and hold competitions there year round. Its in knowsley just off the east lancs so would be about a 20min drive from town.

Robys farm up near bickerstaffe in knowsley, is a dead nice friendly yard, with small outdoor school (but they are building an indoor soon) I would definitely give the owner Lizzie a call and see if they offer grass livery- they might not, but she might be able to point you in the direction of a good local yard - shes ace like that!

Do you know where in liverpool you will be living yet? as if youre south liverpool you may be able to widen your search to include warrington/ widnes/ north cheshire area, or if you're staying in the town centre you may want to try looking out at the wirral- but take into your cost the fact that you'd have to dry through the tunnel at £1.50 each way.
FWIW i live in S Liverpool, but keep my horse up in knowsley, and i work in the city centre- from my house i can zip along the motorway and it takes me 20mins, from work about the same depending on rush hour traffic.

Anyway, good luck - if you need any help or advice about areas to live etc... feel free to ask away pm me if you like.. like anywhere, there are some postcodes that are better than others!

Hi! Thanks for all your replies - it's been a struggle!

BlairandAzira - Burrows Lane Farm looks very promising and right up my alley, so here's hoping! Thanks so much for the heads up! Going to give Robys Farm a call as well.

EDIT: annd no, Liverpool Uni seem determined to keep in me in suspense about where I'm going to be living, which doesn't help ;3

I agree with others there is not many with 24/7 TO. I echo Delph farm. There is also Gellings which since I worked and was a livery on has been taken over the lady that took over is a sensiable lady so TO opttions may have changed.
Burrows lane is a nice little yard. I also used to stable my horses out in melling/aughton way for more TO thats not to far from Liverpool/knowsley.
There is the Lodge which used to have a fair amount of TO.
Bullins is a lovely yard but again not 24/7 TO.
