Livery Yard management...and your horror stories.

Re. bitching between liveries. I was told that in Germany they use the term "Stutenbissigkeit" which literally means "mare viciousness" to describe relations between women at a yard. I believe it's the technical term for the way mares in a band enforce the pecking order!

Yard I used to be on the YO/YM used to put junk in the field and make bonfires out of it. The fires wouldn't be lit with the horses in there but the remains would often be dangerous (wire mesh, nails, hinges etc) - funnily enough her own horses never went in this field. Rubble also used to appear in the field.
Other fields were full of ragwort (and still are - more ragwort than grass and horses living out).
I got told my horse didn't like being in the field (it was bare earth/mud and he got bored after a couple of hours, it didn't mean he didn't need turnout!). I was also lied to about amount of turnout.
For some reason they stopped mucking out and called it deep litter. When I asked why my horses stable was so wet I was told this was deep litter and they had been taking the wet bits out. *******s! I was then told I'd be charged extra for shavings if I wanted more clean bedding (they weren't putting any clean in - and the shavings she'd have used for my stable were not even proper shavings they were dusty non-absorbant by-products from the saw mill).
