The opening times of the yard I was at for quite a few years - riding school 10am - 3pm and livery yard side 8am - 7pm (though we were sometimes there later than that)
The yard I've just left was open at 6.30am and the gates were locked about 7pm
No opening hours for my yard. All the owners ask is that you ring/text them if you are returning after dark unexpectedly, so they know who it is coming down the drive.
Not much to ask really.
6am til 10pm at night. Although morning stables actually start at 5am so you can be on the yard earlier if absolutly necessary.
Its a massive competition yard though so for the liveries who work, the place stays open til late to allow them to have lessons / work their horses after work.
Must admit i like it being open that much as there are always grooms and staff on the yard in between those hours keeping an eye on the horsies!
My hard is always open as such. The gates are locked at night opened about 6:30am and locked at 07:30pm on weekends but about 10pm during the week. However that only means you can't get trailers/lorries in and out without organising it first. We can get to our horses and time of the day or night.
yard open whenever we want I dont go up before 7 as have to drive past their bedroom and work from home so no need. at night I am normally finished by 7pm although they dont mind if a bit later (i normally say in advance to be polite)
Doesnt have any.... think it would annoy me if it did. One yard i heard of wouldnt let people on the yard till 8am even if they were going to a show which i thought was a bit daft!
We don't have hours but im there between 6-7 am and not a problem there was a women use to be there at about 5am but she left awhile back now, and to wouldn't stay there later then half 7-8 in the winter and in the summer normally gone by 8-8.30 as owners on site to im respectful, shes the one that keeps me chatting normally but wouldn't turn up at 8 or anything!!!
Earliest i ever leave on a weekday is 8pm! And latest i've been known to leave is 10pm! But then i can't get there till 6pm earliest, 6.30pm if i have something quick to eat before i go.
Ours is open any time day or night and we are on 24/7 call out if there is a problem. At the end of the day we see it as owning horses is a 24/7 commitment and therefore we make sure we are available as such. Some people do shift work and so they need to be catered for accordingly. I used to ride my horse at the old yard anytime between 11pm and midnight as this was the only time I could get down to see her after working in central london or abroad. They were very accommodating to me although I used to have her on full livery there. I like to treat my liveries the way I would like to be treated.
The first person down our yard opens the gates and the last person locks them. The YO house is right next to the enterance though so the yard is checked by him once everyone has left and the dogs are left on the yard at night.
If we are going to be coming down late like when we know we will be late back from a comp then we let the YO know.
No opening hours on mine - though they may be introducing one as some inconsiderate folk are forgetting to shut the gate after they leave allowing our horses access to the road should they escape the field or stable barn. It has been said that the gates won't be locked till 10pm though and they open just after 6am so I think this is more than reasonable.
Anytime, Owners live onsite. However i have just realised that I am always the first up there 6.15am and always the last to go 7.30pm ish.. Oh well, Owners dont mind they have 7 horses of their own there anyway
Mine is open for whenever you want everyone has the gate code that needs it - durring the week we do ask people to have stopped riding by 10pm as the lights shine into the bedroom !!!
and if they are going to be up at 4am for a show we just like to know in case we wonder who might be out on the yard and dont call the police on them !!
Or if they come up later than 10pm the alarms will be on and to tell us as they cant turn them off !!
I don't and never have had opening and closing times - I very strongly believe that this infringes on the rights of the horse owners. I think it is totally out of order personally.
I do ask my liveries to drop me an email or text if they are coming very early in the morning or very late at night so that I don't have to go out to check that everything is okay.
we don't really have openning hours but generally boss is out on the yards by about 7:30 and staff start at about 9:00. Main tack room is locked at about 7:00pm and the last person out shuts the gates and does the lights. Most liveries keep their tack in the livery tack room which has a combination lock though so aren't affected by the main tack room.
I suspect if someone where regularly doing their horse at 4 in the morning boss would have something to say but TBH it has never happened although when my mate took her horse up to Uni at 5am she was chased down the drive by my boss thinking she was stealing one of his horses. We all had a good laugh about that
The earliest we're supposed to arrive is 7:30am, but I HAVE to get there at 7:20ish or I won't get to work on time. Latest we're supposed to be there is 9pm, which is fair enough really as YOs have kids and dogs - the dogs bark and that would wake the kids up. I do wish I could get there earlier in the mornings though, would love to be able to ride quickly before work.
None - but if I am up there very late or early I would ring and give the YO warning.
I am up there at 6.30am to muck out etc before work so no way could I be on a yard that didn't open til 8am.
