Hey.. I put a post up recently about starting a new livery yard, and through the help on there have managed to look at everything I will need to do and do not anticipate any problems. Now just got to go through the planning consent malarky! The only thing I noticed was how livery prices seem to vary in each area so I would be very interested to know how much everyone pays for Full or Part livery in the East Midlands particularly Leicestershire . Please state what is included in your livery package (and rough outline of facilities) as "full" and "part" vary in what they contain from yard to yard.

If you have got a minute and wouldnt mind letting me know that would be fab :D I think I have worked out my prices right but would love confirmation. Also posted this in Stable forum but despite 50+ viewings no prices so far, thought maybe you competition chaps would be more likely to have part or full livery? or that you would be as helpful again as you have been in the past :p.

If you can help it definetely justifies giving in to the chocolate/cookie cravings as reward ;)

Hi, the yard we're at is on the border of Nottingham and Leicestershire.

It's a full livery yard (although i'm actually on DIY) and i think it ranges from £300 - £400 a month depending on size of horse, this includes -
5 days turnout/ muck out/ bring in (horse's are out at night in summer and in during daytime, in winter they usually have 4 hours turnout per day unless weather really bad)
Haylage/ hay
Straw/ shavings (this is limited to 8 bales a month)
Feed in terms of a chaff and mix, any specalised feed or supplements you get
Floodlit menage with jumps
Undercover horse walker (if horse's are kept in they are put on here btu it can be used anytime)

There is also lorry/ trailer parking and a mini cross country course with some off road hacking.

I think for a weekend day it's £11 extra and livery is not included on bank holidays although things are usually worked between people on the yard so you only need one visit per day

Hope that helps

my lovely yard offers
grass livery - basically field & tie up facilities on yard - £10 per week
grass livery plus use of menage - £15
DIY - field, stable, menage, hay storeage - £20
assisted DIY -£ 20 plus services - charges dependant on services
P/livery - turn out & in & muck out/feed/hay - £55 - weeks days only

& we can rent a garden shed [for storeage] for £2 a week:D

v nice yard near Melton - not posh but a happy place to be

I pay £25 per week livery
£2 per day turnout or bring in
£6 per bale hay
£3.50 per bale straw (have included that as have to buy from yard)
full livery is £8/day (i'm on DIY except t/o)
we have access to indoor and outdoor school, all yr turnout (summer 24/7)

I've stayed at a lot of yards in the Leics area and they do vary massively dependant on hacking and facilities. Atm i'm paying a bit more but I love the place and although the hacking is kackapants the facilities and the yard more than make up for it :)

Yards in the area it seems charge roughly the same (although i think we pay a premium - which is on the hay and straw for the indoor school which is fair)

Where abouts are you thinking of setting up? :) always interested in finding out new places!

Thanks everyone I am definetely in the right ballpark :p. The main issues I found was the fluctuating costs of hay/straw although we are lucky enough to have haylage off our fields for this winter so price estabished for that! I also allowed for 3 bales of straw per week so 12 per month I wouldnt fancy managing off 8 (without rubber matting under the bed area, got it at the front so they arent standing on concrete) I like deep beds, so I dont expect the liveries to manage off that either! We are lucky here to have access to fantastic hacking and the yard has fab facilities to say it is small and personal (fantastic all weather manege 50x25, will be floodlit by winter, full set jump for joy jumps, am currently researching and will be purchasing solarium lights, unlimited access to warm and cold horse wash, lovely large very well organised tackroom :p with some facilities for owners, and also looking at getting an industrial size washing machine for the horse rugs. So should be able to spoil the livery's horses along with my own :p :D.

Vix1978 and Poojay I already own the yard as it belongs to my house :) we are out Loughborough way (the barrow upon soar, sileby side). Pretty near chine house vets.

Thanks so much everyone. I checked and tripled checked my figures but just wanted confirmation that I hadnt done a boob! :o

:D

oh and christine48 I assume you are getting exercise in with that for that price?!

Hi did you start up your yard?. I'm currently looking for somewhere near Sileby just wondered if you could help:)

Hi no I decided not to. The requirements were inhibitive, for example we would need to rewire the entire stable block because even though its been checked and is entirely safe and the wirings fairly new, it doesn't have the certificate it needs or something! And the insurance cost was very high anyway! Of course since the stables weren't being used I started filling them with more horses ;).
I'm sure others on here will be able to advise on yards in the area, perhaps post in the Leics area of the forum? :)
