Hi my yard in suppose to be open until 8.00pm ( we have a written contract ) however the yard owner sometimes switches the lights off early in the winter from the farmhouse and disappears, we think to get rid of us early . We have no way of switching on . Liveries end up walking around with torches , I am worried someone will have an accident . Is the owner likely to be breaching their liability insurance . Every one is afraid to complain in case
they get asked to leave. And advice ?

Each time it happens can you take it in turns to go knock on the owner's door and politely say the lights have gone out again? Surely after a few nights of this he'll just leave them on to avoid the hassle of being disturbed every time he turns them off early, and if you take it in turns and are polite about it, surely he can't single any of you out as a nuisance?

^^ Is a good idea. They'll get fed up eventually and leave you to it. If not, you could all club together to get a really noisy generator to power a floodlight. The noise should have him running for his light switches. :P

If the lights are turned off before 8pm then the yard owner is demend to have broken the contract they have got you to sign.

Club together and see a solicitor (some will give you half an hour for nothing.

I'm not defending your YO but that happens here, something we can't pinpoint trips out the lights and the yard goes off and because they take ten mins to start up again they appear turned off at the mains.
Believe me it isn't deliberate, our house lights go off as does the internet connection meaning I have to log in touse here/facebook etc..
I would mention to him is there a fault as they seem to go off a lot...you never know, it may be a fault.
