Sons horse was accused of being a rug ripper 2 weeks ago so he was moved into a seperate paddock leaving 1 rugged & one unrugged horse in the field. Rugged horse borrowed my old rug while his was repaired. It was tatty but only had 1 rip on the outside. By the end of the week the back end was ripped to shreds - but obviously that was just an accident as it kept slipping! So he borrowed another rug this week from somebody else. This rug had some small rips at the front. A week later the back end is ripped to shreds, Now they are saying that those rips were always there! But I saw that rug last weekend and they definitely were not. So what do I have to do as well as have him in a seperate field to prove it's not him?
Am desperately trying to leave this yard anyway, but can't find anywhere that can take all 3 or isn't too far from where I keep the other 2. Even if I can buy the land I am after it will be months before it is ready. I could scream! And on top of that I got blamed for leaving the barn lights on & I wasn't the last up there. And I got told off for leaving a supplement tub all over the floor when 1 had fallen off the shelf. Really not a happy bunny right now.

I would be taking the YO to one side and explaining all this to them. Explain that you are not happy - if YO has the sufficient amount of PR needed for the job, he/she will listen! If not, keep your eyes open in the local paper or speak with vets/farriers - they normally know of good yards.

Trouble is the unrugged pony who is the only one who could be the culprit (& he has previous form as well) belongs to guess who - the YO. So naturally it couldn't possibly be him.

What a nightmare!
have you upset someone there or are they just a*******s??

I can't stand livery yards, my pet hate, bloody livery yards, good ones seem few and far between....

Surveillance camers are getting cheaper, could you rig one up somewhere?

YO belongs to an "extreme" branch of christianity & disapproves of us me going to shows on a Sunday. We are the only people up there who ride regularly, all the others are pets really & I think we are considered a nuisance because of that.
The woman with the ripped rugs is under a lot of personal pressure at the moment & I don't think she dare upset YO (generally not a good idea). He's only there until I can find somewhere better, but having 3 it's proving a nightmare. Still trying to but my own land at the moment & then I will be free! I only need a field, 1 stable & somewhere to store hay & feed I would be very easy pleased, just can't pay megabucks.

Tried that ages ago, our council don't have anything like that. Trying to get hold of a lady who phoned me a couple of weeks ago. It's a bit further than I wanted to go but the balance has changed now.
Gradually calming down now. I had to walk away when the owner of the second rug said " I must have forgotten about those rips" when I said that last weekend she had told ne there only rips on the front. I had made a point of checking every day this week & there was at least 1 new rip every day!

Hmm... i had this at my old yard was told my horse bites
mad.gif
so he was put in with another horse thats a nightmare my little cob never bites,we moved off and had him clipped and oh there was several bites over him and one on his saddle patch that was a bad one, funny how hes in a field now with four others and they haven't been bitten!!!

I'm going to photograph the rug that is on the horse that is getting it ripped this morning - then they won't be able to say I am imagining new rips. Then I am going to move my horse to a paddock the other side of the lane so they can't say it is being done over the fence. Then we shall see what happens. It really annoys me that I could move my horse to Timbuctoo & the rugs would still be ripped but they are refusing to see it. It's become a matter of principal to prove it now. It would be nice to be able to say "told you so" then flounce off the yard.
Going to see someone about grazing this afternoon. It's a bit far & I am not sure that there will be suitable storage for Hay etc (We don't have a garage so nowhere at home to store)& I would need to put up my own field shelter. But I would have all 3 & my trailer in one place so we shall see.
