Posting this on various boards as I'd like to get as wide a range of opinions as possible,

What do people expect to get on the various liveries i.e. Full, Part and DIY, what services are considered the norm and what are extra's?

Any ideas are welcome, even the ideas for the dream livery:D

Many thanks

Full - I would expect everything to be done for the horse so I could go away and leave it for weeks/ months and know that all its needs were being met. (Feeding, exercise, turnout, feet picking out, mucking out etc)

Part - I would expect turning out/ bringing in and maybe mucking out/ exercise in the week depending on financial agreements to pay for this

DIY - You do everything.

Dream livery for me would be someone mucking out, bringing in/ turning out/ grooming my horses for me and then I toddle up and ride but unfortunately I'm too fussy for that and like to do everything my own way :D

This. I'd expect things like medical care and plaiting up etc to be extras on full livery.

Full=everything (including medical care) except riding

Part=mutual agreement of what is required and how much it would cost depending on the individual-ability to upgrade to full when sick or on holiday

DIY=stable and field maintained by yard + late night check on security

With full I would expect everything but riding.
My experience of part is that they have their hard feed along with all the others but one end of the day they are hayed and skipped out. Turned out and brought in but then the other end of the day they are left for the owner to skip out, hay and exercise.
DIY - do your own horse care but field and stable provided and maintained by the yard.

Usually most yards give you the option to pay for one off jobs such as clipping, turning out or bringing in etc.

When I've been on DIY and it literally was everything so field maintenance was down to us too.
The assisted DIY yard I was on did either one end of the day or both, and you just had to muck out/fill nets/do water/make up feeds. You supplied your own hay, bedding and feed.
I'm now on part where the horse is fed, rugged, turned out. brought in, rugged and fed 7 days a week. Feed, hay and bedding is included and all I have to do is groom, clean my tack and ride.
Full I would expect the same as part but with grooming, riding and tack cleaning included.
