Does anyone know of livery yards in or around the Tidworth/ Bulford area of Wiltshire? I am relocating there in the next few months and need to take my 16.2 with me. Ideally I am looking for a DIY yard with staff to do the jobs that I cant do during the day, although I would not rule out part or full livery. Although I do need:
Safe grazing preferably not in large herds,
A school with a decent surface, not fussed if its indoors or out (but indoor would be a bonus)
Decent sized stables
Secure place to keep tack
Would prefer some hacking, not worried about road work as long as it's not dangerous.
Any ideas would be great as I have no idea where to start and am very happy where I am now, so it's making it really hard to start looking.

although i'm in wilts that's not my area so no help, but if you go on the wiltshire horse riders group on facebook and ask on there you should get some help:)

Hey,
Where will you be based...Tidworth or Bulford?
Hacking wise will be fab as you will be direct onto Salisbury Plain.
x

I will be based in Bulford but am happy to travel a bit, and I know that Tidworth is quite close to where I will be so I'm using those two places as a rough guide.

Ok, cool, I can work out which direction would be easier for you to travel. Will speak to husband tonight as he is farrier so knows more yards then me. I'm in village next to Tidworth but travel to Over Wallop for my horse. Prob a bit far from Bulford. Will PM you later x

Hi,

I've also recently moved to Bulford and found it a nightmare to find livery without actually living there and ending up moving a few times before finding the right yard for me!

There's a couple yards I know of in the area:

I'm at Watergate Farm in Bulford, DIY with 2/3 horses to a paddock (lovely brand new fields) nice stables, lock up containers for tack and rubber/floodlit outside school, great hacking around the farm or short ride onto the plains. Barn storage for trailers, hay etc. Not assisted unfortunatly but helpful and friendly people, myself included ;) so depending on your needs we could help.

Another between Bulford and Tidworth, however it is a riding school so is very busy at the weekends and holidays, fields weren't amazing with quite a walk to turn in and out but the yard and stables are lovely, again a short ride onto the plains and floodlit/rubber school. It is assisted but the staff weren't experienced enough for my TB. It was super cheap tho!

Part livery yard in Everleigh, about 10 miles from Bulford, fantastic facilities!! Large floodlit/rubber school, XC course, private woods, barn stables 3/4 horses to a field, nice yard however once my other horse came back off loan I couldn't afford two on part livery and the cost of running a 4x4 to and from everyday.

A few to get you started :) if you need the contact details or help with farriers, competion venues etc PM me.

Wow thank you so much, that gives me so much to be going on with.
Im quite overcome with how helpful people are on here. A couple of these yards sound like they could be good places for me to start.
I am into dressage, so a good school that wont flood and is relatively level is a must to be honest. And I have started to take him out to compete so finding local venues etc would be really useful.

Again thanks very much for taking the time to respond (same goes for everyone else to) :)

I live in Tidworth (2yrs) and lived in Ludgershall before that from 1986 after moving from Bulford (where I learnt to ride at Tidworth Saddle Club).

Personally if you can afford it I would opt for Everleigh Equestrian. The facilities are amazing and I wish we could afford it! http://www.everleighequestrian.co.uk/

I would stay away from Tidworth Saddle Club as the grazing is very poor standard due to decades of over grazing however their new stabling and outdoor school is very nice. They do cheaper rates for serving personnel (and dependants).
