Hi

I would like to introduce myself and ask for help at the same time.

I am moving to the Yeadon / Rawdon / Horsforth area and would like somewhere close for my 3 horses. I would be happy to put myself on a waiting list if necessary.

Does anyone know of any yards reasonably close. I am not too bothered about the hacking but would like a school of some kind, or at least one close by I can hire.

I would be most grateful for any help

Thanks

Oooh annoying. I went to Leeds Uni and used to know all the livery yards round there. The one I was at was near Bramhope with excellent hacking on Otley Chevin - I know you said you wasn't that bothered about hacking but there are a fair few places near Otley Chevin with schools.

I did my BHS exams here and they did livery. http://www.acrecliffe.co.uk/

A good starting place maybe

Hi, thanks very much. I dont suppose you can remember what the yard was called or where it was please. Near Otley Chevin would be great.

I did say I wasn't bothered about hacking but I think Acrecliffe would put me off ever doing it. Perhaps I should amend that to not very bothered about hacking. I also dont really want to be on a riding school sorry, I know I'm being fussy but I think it would be hard to get into the school.

There's loads of yards in the area. Scotland Lane in Horsforth, Carlton Lane in Yeadon/Guiseley. West Chevin Farm on the edge of the Chevin which is Guiseley/Otley, Manor Farm in Guiseley, Hawksworth Equestrian Centre.

I reckon if you google 'livery yards in ******' you'll get some good results.

Good luck

There are loads on Scotland Lane that you could try, Moss House has an indoor school, Owlett, Dean Head and Jacksons at None go Bye all have outdoor. I'm not sure they will have room for 3 but if you get stuck you could try White Rose, the owner is a little 'eccentric' but her liveries seem happy, no school but Moss house hire theirs out and it is just over the road. There is also Lantwood but as it is up for sale I'm not sure they will be taking on any new liveries for now. Good luck, hope you manage to find somewhere.

Just to warn you, Scotland lane is a rat run, and your horse will need to like low flying aircraft as its the end of the runway, plus Lantwood was for sale...

I don't know this yard, but looks alright

And there are a couple of yards listed on this link:

Also found the following on an thread from January - so don't ask me about names / numbers etc :-)

Livery yards to try with turnout all year round (in on a night)

Kingslea stables on Smithy Lane near the cricket pitch this is probably the biggest yards in cookridge with around 20 horses on. cant locate a number but you want to ask for vicky williams who manages it.

Nickys is next door which is a much smaller affair.

then in horsforth there are loads... Moss House Farm, Scotland Lane run by Jack.

North Ives Farm, Brownberrie Lane, run by the Jackson family (Liz)

Owlett Farm run by Janice Totty located on Scotland Lane.

Lantwood stables also on scotland lane managed by Mike Jarmin

Finally, Carlton boarding kennels and livery stables, located at Carlton run and owned by Stephen

Should keep you going for a while - and you may need Google maps and go door to door if you can't locate them.

Hawksworth is now run by someone else (not Dorena Stakes) who is learning on the job, from what I can make out.

Number for Carlton - 0113 250 5113 (will put you through an automated telephone .... thing). They don;t have a very big school though. Town End Farm is almost opposite there, I don't have a number for them though.
