does anyone have any suggestions for livery yards in the battle area with indoor arenas? i have been told there is a very good small yard about a mile and a half down powdermill lane with indoor stables and an indoor arena and cross country course but the person couldnt remember the name and i cant seem to find it. im looking for somewhere that does either part, working or full livery at a reasonable price as i work full time and somewhere that is good for responsible child owners as my daughter also has a pony. ideally would like somewhere that she can go up for a day in holidays/weekends without me having to be there to supervise her all day as i have other younger children. she is a very responsible and hard working 11 year old and loves helping out around the yard just to be around ponies but obviously due to her age i would like to know there is someone around to supervise her, obviously i would be there to supervise her when she rides. any suggestions with phone numbers and names/ addresses would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance. pm me if you prefer

Just might be a little careful when talking about your 11 year old - I am sure you didn't mean it, but if you re read your comments, it could be taken you are looking for a place where someone else has to keep an eye on/take responsibility for your child (riding notwithstanding) - and that is a big ask!

I have a yardf near battle but no indoor school... but Ellenwhorne EC is close, and I know lots in Battle... Trying to think of the names... one is closer to heathfield and you can see it fron the road, it has a lot of showjumpers, there is also Petley wood EC which has an indoor school, one called Glengorse which i think has one, and also Beauport park riding school (which I'm sure has an indoor school). There are a few other private ones too, as soon as I can think of the names I will PM you, I'm pretty local and know most the yards, so feel free to pm me.

I know of yard in Catsfiels with an indoor school cant for the life of me think of its name!!Its down the small lane that is right next to the shop. A work colleague kept her pony there and rated it well. Its owned by a lady called Caroline. If I think of its name I will pm you.

thanks for your suggestions,
luci07 that is not what i meant at all i meant somewhere that there was child friendly with maybe a group of child owners so that she could make friends that spent their weekends at the yard together or maybe and equestrian centre that ran pony care courses at the weekends/ holidays or where they had responsible children to help out and lead younger ones/tack up/ muck out etc. as i used to do this as a child at my riding school in return for the odd free lesson. thats the sort of thing we are after, not free childcare just to be clear!

the one you mention charliefox is the one i have been told about i think, will drive out there tomorrow and see if i can find it. ellenwhorne looks nice but it might be a bit far, will have to go drive round and have a butchers at them all over the weekend i guess

Hi, the yard half way down Powder Mill lane is Iron Bridge Livery Yard, in Telham Lane, it has a small indoor school.

I can't remember the name of the yard in Catsfield either! it is where they have the shoot near Model Farm. But I know their number, pm me if you need it.

The Yard in Catsfield is called Wilton House Livery Yard, Catsfield, Sussex. 01424 838881. hope this of some help
