Ive got a couple of interviews near Roslin and am tryin to be prepared as if im successful it will mean relocating to scotland. Can anyone give me any info on what the area is like for horses, livery yards etc. A rough idea of cost would be helpful too if at all possible. It looks fairly horsey and obviously the Dick vet school is nearby. I will be looking for somewhere for a native ( probably an exmoor when i find the right one! ) and somewhere for me too.

Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated as i dont know the area at all except for a trial run on the weekend to see how long it would take me to get there ( along with a trip to edinburgh zoo ). Thanks

I used to be at Kirkettle, good hacking in that area and a friendly DIY yard on a farm. There are lots of nice yards in that area and Roslin is a very nice area. Auchendinny is a bit cheaper and still a nice village. There's a small yard there too.

Bilston is a bit less nice and more road work generally there.

PM me if you want. I grew up there and had my horsey education all around that area.

Thankyou. Will send you a pm. Will most likely be requiring assisted livery for a native good doer.

There's also Thornton at Rosewell, across the glen from Roslin, which does all levels of livery. Or a bit further south there's Pentland Icelandics who do livery on what I think is quite hilly grazing so that might work well for a native. Swanston isn't too far either.

Good luck with the interviews :)

Thankyou. Will investigate those places too. Will also need to look into somewhere for me thats not in edinburgh city center. Am going to find the interviews rather daunting as its a big place ( hopefully once ive got through one the second might be easier as at the same place but different departments ).
